The clip for addicted was...yeah pretty damn good. Im jizzin. I'm looking forward to this release more than any others this year, along side deconstruction and katatonia.

I respect that every album is different and that devin's music doesnt have any barriers. However, Ki was a dissapointment. I understand the whole "honesty" in it, but i was a little disappointed because it feels like over 70 minutes of jamming. The drummers age shines through on this record, and it somehow feels a little bit pretentious.

I was also a little weary about reading that anneke was on addicted, because her vocals parts in ki were not impressive at all. Sounded like she just sung certain parts just for the sake of her being there. So when I heard her voice in that numbered clip i was blown away. It fit perfect and sounded very angelic. It totally turned me around on my opinion of her now.

I don't think Anneke sang on Ki. I think it was Che something or other. I could, however, be very, very wrong.

Maybe i will have to finally check them out.

Yeah. I think with Abba you'll be totally alright with just checking a Greatest Hits collection of some sort. I guess some of it is really quite meaningless stuff, but those guys writing the music really did some cool things and the singers are really good. S.O.S is an awesome song!

And Dissentient: Anneke indeed did NOT sing on Ki at all. It's Che Dorval and she has completely different voice than Anneke.

i have no idea who this Che woman is but i think her vocal style did very well with the atmosphere of Ki. Definitely NOT a sound i will quickly run out and purchase but good where it is.

I will wait for Addicted to have my first real experience with with.... I cannot remember hename. Anekke or something.

The songs are undeniably catchy, but the production is just killer on most Abba songs. I actually did a heavy cover of two songs with my old industrial-metal band - Tiger and On and On and On.

My mom used to love them, and I grew up hearing it and hated it. Then one day a friend put some on, when I was in a bad mood. We were driving in the country, the sun was out and when the Abba came on I... actually felt pretty damn good. But it's only then that I realized that the production was incredible. If you read how Benny and Bjorn produced some of the stuff, how they layered the vocals (almost every single instrument was double tracked, ever so slightly out of phase, to create a shimmering delay)... it's pretty awesome, and a megalithicaly-shiny-fun way.

If you're going to check out some Abba, some songs I recommend that aren't necessarily "hits" or songs that have been played to death:

Summer Night City (this begs for an industrial cover)
Tiger
On and On and On
Me and I
I'm a Marionette
I am the City
Elaine
Eagle

^Good call. There are always good songs, which are forgotten from the collection records.

On a separate note, while listening to the "better idea" video, I saw a "related video" (not sure how Youtube figured that they were related, lol) from Anorexia Nervosa called Sister September. Was pretty good! Like a
rawer Samael. I had honestly never heard of them.

On an even more unrelated note, I just watched "Anvil! The Story of Anvil" (which was great) and discovered that Lips, the lead singer, lives around the corner from me! Metal on Metaaaal!

Oh!
You're Abba-dicted!
Which makes it seem so hard to be your friend...
You're Abba-dicted in the brain!
They addict us!
Stay away from the Abba Discography, I'm saying!

Is the song in the beginning of the "A better idea" clip about pornography? Because it sounds to me like Devin at 0:26 sings "Stay away from me, pornography"... I could be wrong though. :D

Nope. It's about addiction in general. I am God. 8)
