Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

I keep hearing great things about them, and that I'd really groove on their stuff and things like that, but I haven't actually heard any material yet =/
Assuming I'm going to Prog. Nation this year, they'll be there.

Try their album BE, it's imo the album with the best story ever created. The production sounds fresh and tight. They know how to play their instruments.
There is nothing boring imo. Some songs are folky and it is really groovy and catchy. Definitely memorable.

The Arcane Order - Between Reason and Hubris

The Arcane Order rocks dude! Didnt know anyone else around here knew them.

They're alright--that is, I enjoy them on occasion. The only albums I have are Entropia, The Perfect Element, Pt. 1, and One Hour by the Concrete Lake. I like them about in that order, too. I'd recommend Entropia to check them out.

They're brilliant once Gildenlow isn't doing his shouty/screamy voice. His clean vocals are awesome, the music is really awesome... I can't listen to them though because of his harsh vocals. They're bloody awful.

Now, I'd better run cos Zyprexa will give me a pasting when she reads this and BlueRaja will probably update me to Cretin 2.0.

Harsh vocals? Are we talking about the same group here? The only song I can think of might be Flame To The Moth, but he's screaming the chorus...kind of.

Daniel has one of the most beautiful voices in the history of rock, period. Huge range, very emotional. Mike Portnoy added him to the Transatlantic European tour back in 2001 for backing vocals and guitar, and also had him front his Led Zeppelin cover band, Hammer Of The Gods, with Paul Gilbert and Dave LaRue. As far as recommendations go, I'd start off with Remedy Lane and/or The Perfect Element Pt. 1. BE is a fabulous piece of work, albeit a bit obscure in places, and doesn't really represent the band's overall catalogue as a whole. I also prefer the live version of BE over the studio album, which actually came first - 3 nights in Sweden with a small orchestra. Youtube's full of clips from the performance if you're interested.

PoS is probably my favorite group of all-time. :)

Transatlantic - Live in Europe - Duel With The Devil - Part 3 of 3: 6 minutes in and Daniel's vox kick in. Fawking AWESOME!

Yeah I don't want to listen to someone busting a larynx :?
When do the nasty vocals end and the clean ones start? Thanks for recommending, I'll check out their stuff.

Dir En Grey - Vulgar

Ok, Amber, since you're the resident J-rocker, I'd like to know your favorite album of theirs as a recommendation. I have Vulgar, Withering to Death and Uroboros.

Oh score! That reminded me to check to see if the video for Bleed was back on youtube. It was taken off for what seems like forever. The video is awesome, Meshuggah score big time in the music video department, they do good work.
