Ki is wonderfully relaxing, I just confirmed this.

Just came from the dentist, had a wisdom tooth removed, kinda feel like I just got mouth raped. Anyhoo, had my iPod and Ki going, Terminal is so soothing. The beginning of Quiet Riot also seemed fitting "I wait for the pain... "

It's a great album.

Still listening to "Ki", and just realised it's Devy's B-Day! Well, "Shorter of breath..." and all that lark, but best of luck all the same!

Whatever happens know that I'm about FE-TA....Feta is the cheese....heh.

LMAO - music for dental offices! I was at the dentist as well, and got similarly mouth raped. At first I tried planning details for my film shoot, but then I couldn't take it anymore and started replaying the end of Ki over and over in my head.

"Here's a little riddle... etc... you can sing it when you're sad, you can sing it when you're mad, you can sing it when the dentist has just frozen the fuck out of your face and is mouth raping you with barbaric instruments of inhuman torment".

I can't think of three more different songs than "Trainfire", "Lady Helen" and "Ki" to appear back to back to back on an album. I also can't think of a better three-song continuum on any album, ever.

Wait. Funeral - Bastard - The Death of Music.

Oh, and Canada - Down and Under - The Fluke.

You know, never mind. To my original point: anyone that wouldn't hire Devin for scoring work based purely on the latter half of "Ki" is someone whose films I don't want to watch.

Oh wait, you mean "if a director heard the latter half of KI, in a pure and just world, he would be hired on the spot".

Well, film composition (and I used to BE a film composer) is a stupid world some times. Most directors are not looking for anything original (how many times have I heard "Make it sound like <REPLACE score here>") and the ones who ARE looking for something unique and original are usually NOT the directors who have a lot of cash to throw around.

Even the Burton/Elfman pairing was divine providence. Tim was a fan of Oingo Boingo and when Pee Wee's Big Adventure came up he went for it - but it was a different time. I doubt Pee Wee's Big Adventure would even get MADE now and the world is not necessarily safe for budding Burtons (i.e. a left-field aesthetic). Right now, the film world is a universe of remakes, sequels and adaptations - and the film composition world is more or less reflective of that.

There are exceptions (always). But for the most part, it's true. I have written Screenplays for the Hollywood Market and despite the obvious benefits to that world (money), it has reinforced my desire to remain indie - all my directorial efforts will be independent.

Devin would be a natural film composer: I hope to god that I can afford to hire him for his first full motion-picture score (even though it's a small film). But if not, someone else will, and it will be a great day, 'cuz if they're hiring Devin, it will probably be someone who is a fan, which means their cinematic aesthetic is going to be a bit "out there" as well. And I will buy a ticket to see whatever the hell it is!

By first rambling about the download hysteria, and then apologize it, and THEN release a pre-order feature, and then release lyrics. Last, but not least, release a official TAB for ki (/Ki/kI/KI) sounds amazing.
It actually sounds like a brilliant plan. Intended or not, it works supprisingly well. :coucou:
The days when people bought cds because of its visual profile, is over. What artists are left with, is a mass of dedicated people. A.K.A. the paying customer. The rest is senseless druids walking about with no reason at all .

If i'm able to download music, read lyrics, and then learn "the lick" direcly from the artist - i'd be more than happy to pay my tribute.
Best of all is Vinyl + a voucher for free mp3download. Why The Hevydev haven't released anything on vinyl yet, is a mysteriis to me. Perhaps something would be lost in the mix? Or is it a simple question involving money?
Check out swedish Graveyard f.example, great band and great vinyl-extravaganza. :guitar:
