Robert Rich!
Devin is just Devin, he doesn't remind me of any other artist. At least I can't think of any moment he did... I'm not trying to kiss his ass now.
Joking aside, the moments are far and few between, but they exist. On Infinity I get hints of Zappa (the tenor part in one of the weird accapella parts sounds like something Tommy Mars might sing), Vai (there's these big explosive low power chords with a slow attack synth that sounds like something he did later, can't remember if it was Fire Garden or RI:R), Sikth, and Andrew W.K. (riffage + keyboard samples + "hey!" kinda deal). Most of the time it's all Devy.

So what the hell happened to Andrew WK? Man he was inspiration in the truest sense, like Meatloaf or Neil Young or something.
I finally found Stravinsky......yea, I can hear where Dev may get some arrangment ideas...

The early stuff, esspecially "Monday" by SYL is very Grotus esc... understand that Dev took quite a lot of influence from Grotus's early stuff

Frost* on their first album layers a lot like he does. In a different way, but still awesome.
What word describes the practice of being married to only one woman at a time? Mono-something... Ah! Monotony!

The music doesn't sound much a like, but Frank Zappa.

Perhaps they are alike in terms of creativity, stepping forth into uncharted musical territory, and possessing astounding technical ability?

Am i the only person who hears a lot of influence from musical theatre in his stuff? All the over the top melodic stuff makes me sometimes feel like I'm watching some sort of crazy prog metal broadway piece (this is a good thing by the way)... I only mean in certain parts though... Definitely not on Ki for instance.

I think thats one of the most appealing aspects of Devs music to me his penchant for ott theatricality and emotively cinematic sensibilities. So very epic.
