I caved in and downloaded it and I absolutely love it. The first spin left me a bit non-plussed, but after a couple more listens I warmed to it and I can't stop playing it now.

To me it's got a very similar vibe to Terria, but with a more mature attitude throughout, cleaner guitars and a more appropriate drummer (I love Gene's drumming on metal records, but I don't think he was the best choice for Terria), and since I adore Terria this is a very good thing(tm).

How does a song such as Quiet Riot work in terms of songwriting credits and royalties? Will Noddy Holder be getting a top-up for his pension off it?

Also, when will we be able to order it from the HevyDevy store? (I loathe eBay more than I can describe, so I've not gone for the eBay pre-order).

I hope the last album of these Fantastic Four is like "A Monday" on repeat. I woke up this morning with that tune in my head and cursed myself for my impatience of pre-viewing my Ki pre-order this weekend. I may have to burn that song on a cd so I can properly start my days...

Really impressed with Ki. Not what I had thought it would be, even after hearing the myspace preview over and over. But a very pleasant surprise it was, especially now that it's beginning to sink in and I'm starting to hear what's going on (several songs didn't really click the first few times). Now I should listen to it totally relaxed and not while (I should be) studying...

Interesting Toazted interview as well, I enjoyed listening to that and finding out more about the whole process leading up to all this and insights about the past albums. But, like, you know, you could, like, cut down on the, like, likes, you know?

If you have an alright sound system in your car, try taking Ki to the beach where no one else is around (it is extra sweet with a good friend who also loves Dev). This is how I first experienced it, and it was sublime to say the least. I was welling up with tears.

Every listen since has been like peeling the layers off of a sweet onion......it can be a lil' nasty at times (in a good way), it will make you cry, and it is always sweet. It is more assuming than Dev says it is imo.....

Anyway, I would say I envy you for just hearing it, but I don't, because I know it will only get better.

Can't wait for my autographed copy!!!!!

I've listened to it a few times and everytime just totally chills me out.

Hey Dev just put in my pre-order for Ki, it's great to have finally paid for it considering how much I've been loving it for the past few days! You mentioned some bonus songs back in one of the threads I was wondering if that version of Sit It The Mountain (at least I think it was Sit It The Mountain) that was recorded for Synchestra but never released might show up one day? Just wanted to say thanks for making Ki, I look forward to what the rest of the year will bring!

That song deserves all that Dev could put into it.........Matter of fact, it would sit well being on Ki wouldn't it........hmm.

Why would he think he could solve any of his personal problems by writing a metal album? I guess that's a mark of a true artiste though, the ability to invest your self fully into a work like that... or maybe he's just a really talented neurotic who let the sweetleaf twist him up a little too tight.

Huh. It's an interesting comment... Personally, I think you can solve problems by taking it into a creative/artistic direction. Once you've purged yourself of what's bring you down, you get a different view of things, and then with luck find a way to deal with things...

Maybe I should be a art therapist.

I'm not really much of a forum poster (I signed up in 06 and have been silent!) but thought I'd break my posting duck to say just what a great album this is. Obviouslky pre-ordered.

Haven't got the skills of a reviewer but Ki has really hit home with me. Listened to it through a couple times then started to focus on Heaven Send. Truly stunning track and verytime that song starts over, my heart seems to skip a bit and I'm ready for another 8 mins of it!
Back to listening to it all the way through again now and it works. That may sound like a really average thing to say, but it's a massive compliment. Each song follows on from the last perfectly showing different emotions and feelings.

I love it Dev and I can't wait for the album which follows. Hope you make shitloads off it, you deserve it.

My fave songs are Winter and Quiet Riot.
They sound like the kind of stuff you write/listen to when you're too tired to care about how fucked up the world is.
When my soul is dead, I listen to songs like this. Honest, mellow songs that have more judgment to them than over-the-top, massive songs ever could.
