Reminds me of the good old days when my friend recorded some of his playing on an Ibanez Jem, named it "Steve Vai - Real Illusions 2", sent it to me and I thought it was the real thing, lol.

Btw, Real Illusions part 2 still hasn't come out..

Grrr... I would have had patience to wait for the release, but my pirate brother downloaded the album the first day it leaked... So I listened to it and love the album.

That is all.

No wait, that isn't the all. I'd like to know how Devin found that... (wikipedia seach)... Ché Dorval who sings on some songs. She's very good.

Also, sorry for a newbie question, but I think I read something about all the Devin Townsend Project albums being released in one special package when they're all done. I'm just wondering how much special stuff that package will contain, cause I'd like to buy Ki (and possibly the others) right away when they're released, but I don't want to miss anything! I'm a student on a VERY tight budget so I'm a bit worried about buying the albums more than once. If there's any info, I'd appreciate it.

Hey Dev,

Just listened for the first time now with my cat laying on the table here. She is quite happy with the song Gato. haha

Great production man. Really like the clean tones with your guitar. What guitar/amp did you use this time?

Are you still working with DFH? I recently talked with Fredrik in Chicago and he said there is a new DFH version coming out this Summer. Can't wait for that. Superior Drummer 2.0 is amazing.

Cheers brother! Keep up the good work.

I think Dev said it was going to be a 8CD box set. The four albums, and 4 CDs/DVDs containing lots of other stuff. What the "other stuff" will contain though, I'm not sure. I have wondered myself though about this, as I plan to buy them all when they come out too... Unless there's also speical versions of the 4 Albums? But then thats a lot of speical content!

I'm sure Dev wil make it work though, however he plans to do it.

I haven't heard it, but it better be really good, or it won't beat Jethro Tull's 2012 release.

I hacked into Dev's brain with my mesmetron and got the next 5 DTP releases leaked!

So what do you think of the song Amphibian? Or the album Zenclock?

Thanks, I guess I could wait for the box set, whenever it comes, and buy the other still missing Devin albums to my collection instead.

By the way, I read some Ki reviews, it seems to have split people's opinions. I guess I'm not a true metalhead, cause I'd be surprised if the upcoming albums can top this!

I believe it was a Budda amp.....and I think Devin said Peavey just bought them out, or they are a Peavey product or something. There are vids of him soundchecking them on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fOgDRQ7Qbc&feature=related

Guitar....could be the Peavey model he is taking pics with.....or that Strat in the vid.

Hope that helps. :D

I gave it some time, and it sure as hell turned loose at last.
I'm not overly fond of the two last tracks or the female vocals, but thats just peanuts compared to how great this album is :)

thats funny i love the last half of the album even more than the 1st half! and at the end of trainfire, where the woman sings it is so beautiful

Yeah indeed funny. You're absolutely right about the end of trainfire, thats good stuff. On Trainfire she sings, on Heaven Send she screams. Women should only scream in bed (JUST KIDDING 8)).
In my fucked up head, the female vocals on Gato and Heaven Send reminds me of "En Vogue - Free Your Mind", and that's no good. I'm not saying she sounds anything like it, but it reminds me of it. Big difference!
ANYWHO, this album is really growing on me (and apparently everyone else) and its really good to have a new piece Devmeister available again.
In fact everytime I've become acquainted with a new Dev-cord (record?), it has always been during both spring and some major or minor changes in my life.
No difference this time, it's spring and I've recently been through some changes in my life. Life is goooood!

Sir, regarding women screaming. I must draw your attention to the new Agoraphobic Nosebleed album. Their new singer Kat (also of Salome) is a revelation.

Preordered Ki. I emailed asking if I had a signed one and was delighted to receive a prompt response in the affirmative!

Oh well.

If my music were to be just as exposed (to early or not) like that, I'd surely enjoyed it. If that piece of recorded music isn't what you intended, what use will it do to others?
The point I'm trying to make is its not about what you've done, but rather what you're doing right now. And if someone wants to spread your half-ass effort, why not? You'd bound to miss the point anyway.

It's ok Thrashartist. As we get older (36 myself), have kids and a full blown adult life or something similar you hopefully grow, mature, change and your taste becomes mellower... HA. At least sometimes. I was just like you and although I enjoy the Metal side more than anything, I also find spaces, places and moments in Devins's more melodic music that i know are absolutelly magnificent and neccesary for both the author and the listener, in my case.

You just can't let that quality (and fortunately quantity) music go unnoticed and out of your life.;-)

Or you can stay as you are and tell me to just shut up. (you wouldn'd, right?)

Oh I definitely enjoy more mellow stuff.
Otherwise I'd just be a crazy SYL addict haha.

The atmosphere on Ki just didn't click with me like the other Dev albums I've got.
I didn't listen and think it was a bad album, it just didn't really connect with me.

That being said, Trainfire is a blast to listen to and Coast is fantastic.
Also, Quiet Riot has a nice calm and upbeat feel that makes it pleasurable to listen to.
