If Dev is releasing under HDR, then what is InsideOut's role?

InsideOut does promotion an distribution in Europe.

Sony does it in Japan if I'm not mistaken.

80% is incredible. Is that a label deal or distribution mainly? We got some offers from labels before and all rates were around 10% which seemed to be kind of standard as far as I've seen.

Kunaki is a distribution and pressing service, mainly; you get no promotion or other label-like things, so you have to do all that yourself in exchange for making so much money per sale. Basically you order your CDs (professionally pressed by Kunaki) for 1.75 a piece, plus shipping (goes down the more you order though)-- you can also send them to any address through Kunaki, so it's very easy to ship anywhere.

Really makes you realize how big a thing promotion is, though. :)

Cool, thought that might be the case.

They're a label as well though, to other bands, aren't they...

...aren't they?

Very interesting, I'll have to check out Kunaki. I've always thought that if I did my work by the "If I build it they will come" principle that eventually I could build up a fan base of some kind and make enough money to live a very humble lifestyle. But with some of Devin's recent comments about financial problems I've been extremely discouraged lately. I don't think I'll ever stop making music... it's just the idea of being able to make a living doing it is becoming more and more of a daunting task as time goes on. Thanks for the suggestions though.
