Ok, I am a marine chemist. I keep the seas clean using my fists and my brains. Arrr.

The underwater world is fascinating...

I remember visiting the Philippines earlier this year and seeing so many beautiful creatures... Lionfish, Parrotfish, Nudibranch etc etc ...It really hits home when this same ecosystem was sharing its reef with empty coke cans and car signs. It's not until I took up scuba that realised who fragile and beautiful this planet is. Most of it is "underneath the waves"

Anyway, I'm a photographer http://www.scotthogg.com

Very nice photos!

Y'know what, I'm gonna revive this thread. I think it's interesting to hear what people do with themselves when the glue sticking their hands to the keyboard eventually loses its strength. And if you don't like me annoyingly reviving old threads, I'm a Cretin. So shove it. :)

I go to college most of the time, studying History and Archaeology for my degree, and when I'm not doing that and not being a lazy goodfornothing I work in a small old leather shop. My boss is a complete fruitcase, I usually just sit around listening to his immense jazz music collection and fiddling with scraps of leather and stuff, and I get paid nicely enough for it. I love it, and everyone who takes an interest and asks what I work at hates me for having it so easy. :D

Especially me. You're such an ass-hat.

I shouldn't even be posting in this thread. My job as a respiring organism isn't really that noteworthy.

I'm a music student for the next few months, and then - Nada, probably a crappy job somewhere. But for now, I'm learning the business, as it were. I'm skilled at live performance and sessions (or so I'm told. xD), getting decent grades in theory and improving as I go. I can do some recording, but to be honest, there is so much to a proper recording studio that I'd need some sort of internship to really understand it.

After that, taking two years of to get decent theory and guitar grades, and hopefully my grade 8 for drums (Whoo for standardised testing.) And then, hopefully, university, and then I'm trekking it to Canada, my dream country.

Sorry, that half turned into a life story.

And leather working? Like, making bags and what not from leather?

We used to, but not since I've been there. We occasionally put together harsh kinda wallets for bikers and stuff, but the wallets/bags/clothes we sell are all imported (mostly from Italy). It's a balls making all that kinda stuff and people only wanna pay you two quid for it, so my boss decided it wasn't worth it. We do cut our own belts though. I get to go to the factory and do that sometimes which is good fun. They're good too, we've got a pretty good exporting business to the states. They LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the celtic shit, and we do loads of celtic patterns and buckles and stuff. And then I just piss about making keyrings or key-holders or wristbands or whatever.

It's cool to think someone in the States or wherever is wearing a belt or a wristband or something that I made... I love mah job. :D

Sorry, man. We don't do assless chaps or leather thongs. But hey, your girlfriend's going into fashion. I'm sure she could find you something.

I've been a Personnel Specialist for the United States Air Force for 2 and a half years now. Working part time at college to get a degree in Psychology and slowly trying to record a demo CD.

Lacking a steady job currently-- I suppose you could say I'm something of a freelancer in anything I can do well enough. The most recent being graphic and audio work for an iPhone game an old friend's company is developing-- should be out rather soon now. Most commonly, though, it's mixing/mastering indie bands' demos or records. :)

Well, I don't know if this quite counts -
but looking for a job is a job in itself. I've hit up just about everywhere - with some encouraging results in some cases. You'd think it would be just about impossible to find a job at this time, in this country; but there's a little but of hope out there, or so I wish. :D

Kudos to all you who are working. Having a job is pretty admirable when you don't have one

Right now I am the head of printing for a company owned by Staples. Funny that it's actually a pretty good sized company, but even the head of printing position is an hourly temporary position. Oh well, the actual work I do actually goes very far throughout the states, and hopefully will go international before too long (hopefully in that they also decide to make it a permanent position before long).
