lol I know. It was a joke. When Synchestra came out and heard the female vocals on Pixellate, we all for some reason wanted to assume it was Tracy even though shes stated a million times she dosn't sing. Then when we saw the woman dancing in the Vampira video, people asked again if that was Tracy. So it's become a joke for me to say any female role involved in any Devin project must by Tracy

I think it's "one more of those, please".

Hell yeah its definately Tracy on Ki........

Ive gotta say it would be rather awesome if Tracy did do even a small vocal/sample in a song at somepoint... if not already I spose.

How are you guys hearing all these details? It's infuriating that the leak is midrange vbr mp3.

I'm definitely buying it, like I bought all Dev's albums... but the wait for clarity is killin me.

Hey Dev!

Thank you for Ki, it's fucking amazing! My mind was blown right at the first listen. I was giggling all the way through, and even my girl likes some of the tracks, who thus far only liked Notes from Africa.

The whole thing feels like you pushed the reset button and allowed new things to come forward. It feels like change, an an amazing one at that. It's the best thing you've done since... Ziltoid. :)

I really really hope that one day I'll be able to see you guys play here in Hungary.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing, and of course, buying the rest of the 4 records. I don't really care for music nowadays (except maybe the new St. Vincent record), but I'm always looking forward to your releases, since I first heard City back in the day.

Thanks again.

If you can't hear them, your soundsystem is probably more of an issue than the bitrate...

I absolutely cannot wait to give you money for this album Devin. Its phenominal, as others have said its needed at this time in my life. I'm on listen 30ish since... aquiring it on sunday night. I still cry when I get halfway through Quiet Riot... I still get shivers in Ki... I'll never get bored of this album!

I really can't wait to see it performed live. Whats the plan for live? Snippets of each album? Or each album in full on different nights? (I can't see the METULZ meatheads sitting through this to get their dose of chaos)

I thought the mix at this point was a bit off. In the YouTube "recording of" vid, the guitar and bass are much more upfront (the sound's very distorted and there are no drums and vocals, which probably has a bit to do with it), and I'd have preferred them to stay that way on the album, rather than be somewhat obscured by the vocals and drums--particularly that bassline, which is superb. I realise that's a matter of preference.

Generally speaking, Ki's probably my favourite non-ambient, non-SYL Devin album. I prefer the opposite extremes of his work to the middle ground DTB-ish stuff. As an artist, he got me listening to heavy music more than anyone else (I looked him up one day after listening to Sex & Religion for the umpteenth time and noticed he had a few albums of his own out...), but now I'm a bit older I gravitate to the more mellow sound. My taste has probably followed a similar course to his, actually. If I'm after something heavy I'll put on, say, the first 3 tracks of Alien--something HEAVY--and be done with it.

For me, those moments of Ki--tracks like "Disruptr"--could've been saved for Addicted. I'm never quite sure to what extent Devin feels like he has to include material like that in every conventional release to appeal to his core fanbase. Obviously the contrast between the two is part of his musical personality. Whatever, I find myself skipping those tracks (or at least, listening to them when in a different frame of mind), and replaying "A Monday", "Coast", "Terminal" and so on. Those are my favourites; there's a palpable sense of musical reinvention and of Devin challenging himself to do something different. Love the parred-back guitar sound, and the general restraint shown in the production. Easily his most tasteful and mature work to date in that respect. I also think the ambient, experimental stuff is increasingly converging with the "regular" style, where previously they were two separate avenues. Which is pretty cool.

I really like Ki. It's definitely a curveball. I feel like while listening to it, I'm waiting for something to happen, and it never does happen. Which made the first time I listened to it disappointing. Now I listen to it without expectations, and I really do dig it.

Dev didn't tell tales when he said this was a new era. While it has his signature sounds on it, it's really different from what I'm used to.

I love it all the same, and I'm looking forward to purchasing it as soon as I see it on a shelf.

Kudos to Devin Townsend, for he has smitten me yet again.

I loved it. Very VERY different from everything else he's written. When you're listening to it, it doesnt make you think 'Do I like it?', instead it makes you think 'Is this my thing?'

I love Disruptr, Quiet Riot, and Ki.

And oceanmachine...is it just me or is Quiet Riot in standard tuning?? Or have I unwittingly transcribed the whole song to standard haha.

I like the part in Quiet Riot when Devin says "thank you John ...(can't figure out the last name), i'm on my way again", the whole album is great, but that phrase..is deep
