Speaking of cars, im contemplating whether or not to go ahead and get my dream car ive been eyeing up for a while. It seems so right, yet i still have my doubts. Why must it be this way? :(

Because spending lots of money always feels wrong, at least for me. Yet I do it.

^This is true. I don't even really want a car, but how else am I going to get anywhere, ya know? Gotta pay for gas, smog checks, break fluid n shit... I'd love to walk everywhere, but America isn't laid out that way, unfortunately. :|

RIGHT NOW - I'm waking up to the easter basket my mom put in my room while I was asleep. *tear of joy* You're never too old to get easter baskets :D Awwww, I see she put a box of English Breakfast tea among the chocolates *joyful*

Buy a bike! Ye probably have really good weather over there and everything so ye could use it all the time. They're cheaper to buy, aren't as expensive to run, you can park almost anywhere and you just can't beat the feeling of riding a bike...

Had a scooter but didn't like it cos it was too slow at only 50cc, got a 125cc cruiser that I just never took to driving at all which I shall hopefully sell soon. I'm lazy as shit and all that gear bollocks takes all the fun out of just hopping on and flying off on a twist-and-go... So now it's on to a 125cc twist-and-go. Best of both worlds, and its not as fugly as most big scooters either, I think. :D

Hmm, depends. Does your dream car have a 5-litre V8 engine?

if yes then it feels wrong because you will be destroying the planet at a needless rate and bankrupting yourself with fuel costs.

if no then it feels wrong because your dream car is a girly hairdresser-mobile, and people will laugh behind their hands at you (like they do at grown men who ride scooters).

Either way you are far better off using public transport (or pubic transport if you are EphelDuath666) or a bicycle and spending the remainder of the money on the guitar of your dreams.

Thank god I'm only a teenager. :)

And Linchpin, don't you already have two or three bikes? Why'd you need the car if you're already sorted for transport with them?

Ha that would be cool - but you have to get a separate license for those - AND, some scooters/bikes aren't allowed on freeways, which is a MUST where I live. But not a bad idea! I'm sure I'd get more badass cred if I had one 8)

Your public transport system surely facilitates not having a car?! Ours doesn't, really. Buses never run on time, there are no trams and trains are far too expensive. I have a bicycle, but rarely use it because Cork (where I live) is entirely a valley; full of hills Michael Phelps couldn't cycle up even if there was a nodge of weed dangled in front of him. I might get a motorbike if I come across a job or money at any point in the future.

Phelps was a swimmer, you're thinking of Lance Armstrong :P

Public transportation? Uhm no, in America public transportation is not desirable, at all. Most of the undesirables of America opt to take our public transportation, and I dont feel like being mugged. The only time I can really understand using it here in America is if you live in one of the big cities and the traffic is just too rough to deal with a car.

Gas prices really arent that bad anymore, and I use only premium in my truck. (yea, I have an SUV, hate me.)

As for facilitation, not really. Too many things are spread far apart in America, so having your own transportation is basically a must if you dont live in a sprawling urban area.

Petrol is cheap in America, I suppose. I'm probably an "undesirable" here in Ireland! I wouldn't mug anyone though. So I suppose that's more than likely a good thing.

As for having an SUV, I can't hold anything against you. My dad has a Nissan X-Trail even though the only commuting he even does is the twenty minute drive to work, and then home again. I'm hoping the fact that I don't use a car means that it balances out. :(

Ontopic: I'm listening to God is an Astronaut and playing Pokemon Pearl on DS. I just finished eating the most delicious cheesecake ever, my mammy made it earlier. Yum.

hey that's okay. You clearly have a job that requires you to offroad a lot using 4WD and requiring major traction. Back in the day when I did that kind of work I had a 4WD pickup, a 110 Landrover and a Toyota landcruiser Amazon (not all at the same time obviously) - now that I have no need for that I just drive a fuel efficient wee car. You have nothing to be ashamed of. It's not like you're one of those dicks who has an SUV just for the pose value.
Surely.

Nah, I have one because I wanted one. I love Nissan Pathfinders and I wanted one. Granted, the payments hurt a little, and sometimes I wish I never got it based purely on the payments.

As for the whole "destroying the environment" issue, I'd begin to blame the few volcanoes that have been erupting lately (Alaska, Galapagos) for more damage in the near future than someone driving and SUV because they damn well wanted one.

Hehe, yes Leechy, i do have 2 bikes, but we kinda have a very long winter here in Pennsylvania, so i also need a car. Also, trying to carry grocerys home on a sportbike isnt exactly achievable lol. i currently have a 1997 Pontiac Trans Am WS6, but its getting up there in the mileage, so its time to trade her in on my other dream car: a 2007 Dodge Charger Daytona :) which has a 5.7 litre V8 (same as my Trans Am, Billy). But the Daytona also has MDS, so fuel efficiency isnt really a problem. i suppose im doing my part to destroy the planet with my big beefy V8 spewing out all those harmful greenhouse gases, but i never said i was a hippie. i live 20 miles from work, so pedaling to work wouldnt really cut it. Walking, riding a pedal bike, or using public transportation all the time is just way too impractical. i dont live in a little box, i have to commute ALOT

Yeah Abydost, its pretty expensive, but i feel itll be well worth it. i test drove it, and instantly fell in love. i didnt wanna get back in my own car :P
