I concur. Amber pedals while you play. Independent power supply is awesome!

Now that would just be silly. Although it could be funny. Imagine that on stage :P

The funny thing is, is that his distortion pedal is actually mine. :D

How is this funny? It just proves I was too lazy to ever get my own one. xD

This business with Amber amuses me. It would be the sweatiest means of getting decent distortion.

In the same vein as that - last night my compressor was giving me lots of trouble. I had my brother look at it because he knows all about the inner and outer workings of all kinds of sound equipment - but it stumped him too. I guess I had been solely using a passive instrument previously. I still use the passive J-bass, but the Bongo is getting a lot of use. And since I got the Bongo which is active - it's been a problem.

The compressor will crackle and make weird fuzzy sound spikes as if I had a bad cable or a bad connection. But it all looks sound. Also, the crackles will come after the initial attack; as the signal sustains, the crackle will appear. One would expect that a sharp attack might be worsening the problem, but it's always after the fact.

My brother also said the pots need a good cleaning, the 'level' pot being the most offensive of them all. I guess I don't know what to make of it. I never had trouble with it until I started using the Bongo - but it's definitely not the Bongo. I know that much.

Anyways, this has kind of turned into a ramble, but any input or thoughts might be helpful. Well, carry on.

Readjust your settings. Sounds like your active pickups are pushing a hotter signal than your passive(which is what they are supposed to do) so it sounds like you're clipping your amp.

Try different compression settings, or eliminate it all together, you shouldn't need it.

Yeah I've fiddled with all the settings, and I've tried fiddling with the settings on my sans-amp and amp head. Nothing helps. My brother just informed me that the amp isn't clipping, but yes, the active circuitry does exacerbate the problem.

I think the compressor is just old and needs some fixing up by someone other than.. me. But I want to keep using it, it's really useful to me.

Thanks for the thoughts though - For now the Bongo has plenty of juice without the compressor. Could be worse you know? :)

Of course smoking's probably not helping.

Our glorious weather will only help the cause.. :? I know the feeling. I was dying for the entire time I was on holiday in Paris last week. It really can put a bum note on the whole thing.

Yesterday though I decided "fuck the flu" and to resume with my unhealthy lifestyle (smoking/drinking etc.) and if this gets me hospitalized then so be it :D
Also I don't think your country's weather surpasses mine (Finland) in the flu inducing competition ;)
AND!! I'd like to ad another un-awesomity. So they're making a sequel to the boondock saints which happens to be one of my favorite movies, which in itself is ok, but there's no Willem Dafoe in it >:-/

Finland's weather definitely beats ours. Eh... or maybe Ireland's wins, depending on what way you're looking at it.

That was EXACTLY how I felt about it when I heard Boondocks were doing a sequel. I love that guy; especially when he fucks the big burly black guy and afterwards he's like "Cuddle? You fucking fag..." Haha!

Brushing your teeth, forgetting that you have done so, and then eating an orange.

Totally sucks.
