Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

Death Magnetic - The DECiFER Remix

Man I didn't realise how truly awful the production on the retail version was until I heard this remix. I'd highly recommend anyone who loves Metallica to do as I did and give away your CD copy and download this version. You're reward will be the sound of Rob Trujillos bass and a much warmer, fuller sound altogether.

Also been listening to Earth - The bees made honey in the lions skull (Heavy, bluesy Doom but kind of held back and chill at the same time)
Polkadot Cadaver, (Genre splitting awesomeness from the remants of Dog Fashion Disco)
Alamaailman Vasarat, (Insane Finnish Jazz band with influences from folk, classical and all kinds of metal)
Electrocution 250 (Crazy technical, Cartoon Metal)
Infected Mushroom and Sphongle (Two amazing Psychadelic electronic bands)

Is this different from the Guitar Hero release? Personally I haven't heard that, but I've read that its mastering is also miles better than the retail version (not that hard to sound better though.. I think my band's first EP we recorded, mixed and mastered ourselves is easier on the ears). Anyway, my DM CD was a gift so I won't give it away, but for a couple of songs on there that I like I'd be quite interested in this.

On a side note, I saw Metallica live a week ago. Probably my last time to see them; the sound for the opening acts (The Sword and Machine Head) was completely fucked up, they were playing a bit sloppy (for which I can clearly blame Lars' inability to keep a simple beat) and their sound wasn't that great either, the stage banter was pretty much the same as the previous 2 times I've seen them and the atmosphere was totally rubbish. I guess that's what you get when a band grows to be such levels of popularity, the crowd is so varied that there's no real unity. This is also evidenced by the fact that I've seen people get into fights at every concert I've attended. When they started the encore by playing the first minute or so from Suicide & Redemption (imho one of the best tracks on DM) my rating for this gig was immediately up, but then it became apparent this wasn't scripted/rehearsed, because it got fucked up after that minute (again I can blame Lars) and they stopped playing. And continued with the script. Meh, overall a rather poor experience, not one I'd like to repeat.

I guess I could've posted this in the concert review thread, but it seemed to fit a little better in this story. Anyway, to stay on-topic I'm listening to Infinity as it was intended, according to what I've read on these forums. Love browsing through the archives, some nice gems of info there. :)

Lacuna Coil - Shallow Life

Regardless of anyone else's thoughts on them, I dig them and this album seems to be classic Lacuna with a few heavier elements that are very welcome.
