I wouldn't really say he's impacted me, but I can really connect with a handful of songs.
I just enjoy the emotions portrayed in his music because he has such a unique and genuine way of doing it.

Subliminal messaging?

Possibly! Or he's been rearranging the contents of my fridge, cause there was nowt much else...

It seems like no matter what is going on in my life at any certain time, I can always listen to Devin's music to pull me out of reality and take me on some kind of musical journey and come out of it feeling like a million bucks. And just as you Synthetic I think the first piece i heard from Dev's solo work was "Life". It blew me away.

The music that Dev creates just connects with me on an emotional level like no other band/musician ever has.
Everytime I listen to Storm I get goosebumps, Life never fails to put a smile on my face.
I feel the impact everytime I listen, it can make other music seem really underwhelming and throwaway.

I also have to give Devin a big thanks. His music improved my life greatly. Accel Evo's lyrics really clicked with me, and made me think about my life a lot. I feel I've matured greatly since listening to his music. I also never understood "soul" in music until I heard Devy. People told me all the time about how great Hendrix and Zeppelin were because they had "soul," but I never really understood it until I heard Devin's music. Also, the song Life got me through a tough point in my life. Over 500 plays on my computer playlist alone, and I still get chills every time I listen to it.

I hope someday I meet Devin, I would very much like to shake his hand and say thanks.

I really don't want to get into the sh*tty times that i had.(really) but all i can say is that Devins music helped me and insired me in allot of ways as person and as a musician. Thanks Dev if u see this, I bet this is the scariest forum of them all for you to read.

yup, also got more into devin in shitty times.
And yup, i was also a prog/technical freak/snob or whatever (although i still do love my Gentle Giant and Meshuggah), but his music showed me that simpler stuff can be as awesome, or even more. And i also learnt that the kind of sound that i wanted to make had a name: "wall of sound" :D
I usually tended to listen to a lot of intrincate shit cause my minds wanders off easily if i don't get a ton of stymulus (probably because i may have ADD  ), so Dev struck me as a ton of stymulus and intricacy on another way. And because Deep Peace is the most beautiful song ever made, too.

thanks d-man!

ps: i also tuned my guitar to Open-C, and it really works for me to doodle around, cause i can't play shit that needs complicated chords :P

I dont have any real sentimental (man-crush) moments, but I do remember the first time I heard him sing on the Sex and religion album. I was just a kid, it made me want to sing like he could, problem was and still is, I cant sing for shit. I heard "Pig" and thought yeah! this dude rips. And Touching Tongues, moving.

Moving on to SYL I loved the aggression. And the music was perfect in my mind. Every thing I could ask for in a metal band.

OK OK...
I'm a guitarist and the biggest impact would have to be his ability as a guitarist, that has inspired me to get back into playing after a couple of years getting caught up in society. I nearly sold all my gear and thought it was over. Now I'm more inspired than ever, Ziltoid does it for me now:)

Well, I mean Ziltoid is the intergalactic guitar hero. Why wouldn't he do to for you?
In all seriousness, I know how you feel. He made playing fun for me again.

Well I guess it's pretty simple: Devin music has opened the doors to appreciating heavier music, metal and otherwise. I never really liked metal before... and I still don't like all of it. But music that isn't just metal for metal's sake-see how loud you can scream, is worth a listen. Perhaps I shouldn't close the doors so hastily, ya know?

Plus, he makes great music, which makes anyone's life better. :D
