i hope no one beats me with a stick for saying this... Between the 3d cd booklet thing and a little "the patient" soundingish riff in the "teaser" gots me thinkin of 10,000 days, and other toolish things.I guess I always put townsend and them in the same vein, With Dev feeling more organic and orchestral and naked and loving and dare i say orga-epic? I wish there was more of the song "ki" to hear, when I heard the video on youtube I nearly peed myself .goddamn. That was some powerful shit.

There is so much distasteful imagery in the video "Meatball". I am shocked and appalled, sir. I think I even saw excrement.

I was actually resisting getting excited about this, because I didn't wanna be let down. But now I am really, really excited, it sounds better than I could have even imagined. Seriously, HOLY FUCK.

I can definately see this album being one which I have to listen to all the way through to get the full experience, in that the songs flow onto the next one, or follow a theme or idea to it's final conclusion. The whole project alludes to that kind of thinking anyway. The amount of detail and thought which Devin puts into his work as an artist, and the infomation he put up recently on the myspace about the content of his songs and the themes and ideas he wanted to explore with these albums, it's going to be an interesting listen for certain. It's going to be great music which is going to be varied and unique, as Devin's stuff always is, and I'm going to enjoy hearing where Devin's been in his mind.

Great stuff Devin, very interesting, and this is the first time I've been thinking so much about a teaser! Remember, despite the ever hungry nature of us fans about new infomation about this album, don't compromise your workload to give us snippets and infomation. Although I have to say, you're one of the best artists for responding to fans that I know of, and you have a lot of my respect for that.

Basically it's a means of replacing the drum sound being recorded or played. For example, most kick drum sounds on many metal records sound very clickety-clickety to enable them to cut through a mix. Though this effect can be achieved through various means using compression, gating or equalisation, often it's simply easier to replace or blend the original recorded sound with a kick drum sound from a sample library. This can enable an engineer to achieve a consistent kick drum sound over a whole song, or a whole album. You could even have different triggered sounds for say, a verse and a chorus.

Been lurking for a while now... my anticipation for the new record(s) is steadily building. The Ki teaser sounds awesome, by the way. There are more heavy parts than I was originally expecting... Not that that's a bad thing. And the clean parts are fucking glistening!

Ahoy me hearty! How are you mate? Loving the portraits I've seen on fb (when I manage to get on the thing).

I agree, those "heavy" parts certainly stood out amongst the shiny loveliness. From Dev's descriptions of Ki I get the feeling they might serve as a bit of a preview of more substantial heavy times in the following albums.

I can't wait to hear the Elvis/Chris Isaak style song in full, and those jams on youtube combined with the teaser have me looking forward to long, wintery country drives with Ki as the soundtrack.

Just listening to the Ki samples for the second time, i gotta say, im loving it. Not quite what i expected either, some of it was well heavier than i was expecting, some of the bits towards the end gave me the chills! Im guessing that big EPIC bit just about 3.50 is the title track??? The melody is slightly similar to that from the youtube video of recording bass for the song Ki...

...third play, im in a internet cafe for the next hour and thirty-four minutes i can see me listening to this for the rest of that time!!

Cant describe how different it actially is from what i was expecting, well done Mr Townsend im sure you have once again made my year.

Cant WAIT for addicted now!! :guitar:
