I hate to state the obvious... but I really enjoyed the Ki teaser :D

Really hope Dev tours soon - it's been far too long since my last live Dev fix!

one question about the 8 disc box set:

what about the people that bought the single albums, do they have to buy them twice or is there another option???

He wasn't really like that when he toured the DTB either. For that he stage persona was based more around the tone of the lyrics he was singing I guess you could say.

What do you mean "people that bought the single albums"? These aren't available for pre-order already are they

I don't think it's even that. The first two times I saw Devin live, he was touring as "Devin Townsend" but with the Strapping Young Lad lineup, and he'd play Devin Townsend songs and Strapping Young Lad songs in the same set. He didn't insult the crowd then.
The only time I saw him do it, was on the Alien tour, when they were touring as Strapping Young Lad.

"Go to the merch stall and buy two t-shirts, one for you, one for your ugly as fuck girlfriend! We are Strapping Young Lad from canada, and YOU ARE NOT"

I dunno, I thought the whole insulting the crowd thing was really funny personally, and pretty entertaining. You'd have to be really over-sensitive to take that seriously, and not see the funny side.

I agree...I think it was all tongue in cheek, but I found it brilliant because that's my kind of humour...when I was at download "stick this in your fucking cunt!" I found that fantastic!

I enjoyed it and assumed it was all part of the "stage show"..Devin living up to the "larger than life heavy metal image"....doing with irony? Enjoying the Heavy metal cliche?

I assume so

Definitely. I never imagined Devin working with a jazz guy.

I was wondering what took him so long! I always thought Dev would sound fifteen kinds of awesome with a jazz dummer backing him. To me, Devin seems to have a bit of a jazz sensibility anyway - look at almost any jazz guitarist, they're usually very prolific and most seem to release an album every year or so. We've been lucky enough to get an album a year from Dev over the last decade or so - sometimes two.

Duris has inspired me so much today I've attempted a very quick sketch at lunchtime. It's up on my facebook page:

I guess you were ahead of everybody then 8) I think Devin made a great choice - it's not like I can't get down with the whole metal-double-kick thing, but a change will be nice too.

Oh - and that potrait you did of Duris is fantastic!! You seemed to really have captured the man! Well done, sir. Well done!
