Course not, Leechy. She had the consumption.

AlucardXIX wrote:Right, it's called "idiocy".

Also, she didnt die. So she's fair game in my book.

I wont make fun of someone with an actual mental disability though...I just find it kind of wrong.

Remember the head-shaving incident?
The umbrella attack on the paparazzi?
Losing custody of her children?
Being taken to a psychiatric institute on a stretcher?
The no-underwear photos?

I think it's fair to say that Britney Spears has had a pretty hard time. At least Jade Goody's demise was quick and painl... Oh wait.

I'm just saying. Not everybody can telepathically know what your personal moral standards are. Don't be surprised if, throughout your life, very few people adhere to them.

I understand this, but it's not to say I cant voice my opinion on it. I thought it was in bad taste, there was no need for it to become what it has. You could have taken it with a grain of salt but instead decided to make it into a huge debacle.

Regardless of my moral standpoint, I was just giving my opinion on the matter at hand.

See I'm fine with poking fun at stereotypes, go ahead and hit me with some American ones, The Oid has already been going at it for a bit.

Hey, if it wasn't for us ye wouldn't even be existing up there! "Scoti" is Latin for Irish, so technically, Scotland is actually Ireland! :P And on a related note, the Latin for Drunkard is 'Scotus'. Almost 20 centuries on, that reputation still hasn't fucked off! :D

As cute as it is to play moral policeman, they can say whatever they want. Not everyone has to have your sense of humor.

I dont even know who Jade Goody is.

Are you saying you find no value in human life? I hate to say it, but you come off as if there is no point in valuing it.

I dont laugh at things about people who have recently died. So I take it a death in your family has never affected you negatively in any way? Entropy man, you honestly sound like the kind of people right now who wouldn't even care if one of your parents dropped dead or was killed. Call it extreme for me saying that but that's how you're coming off. All I was trying to say is show some damn respect towards those mourning her death. Is that really "playing the moral policeman" because I would rather show respect than laugh heartlessly about it?

Honestly, what the fuck kind of person laughs when others die in non-Darwin Awards ways?

I'm done explaining myself. You can go fuck yourself if you feel the need to call me "soft" or "overly moral". Sorry if I show a little more respect towards human life than you do, I for one dont think we are worthless meat bags here for nothing at all(which I know you do, entropy, I've seen your posts basically saying that).

I'm not saying you shouldn't feel the way you do. I'm saying you shouldn't tell others to feel that way (hence, a "policeman" of morals).

A human life is invaluable, I think. But only in our eyes--on the whole, it's all just cycles of things much bigger than us. Death is a natural aspect of life, in any event, and there are plenty of ways of dealing with it. Some even laugh.

I don't think you're overly moral--I don't even know what that would constitute--but to project your morality and to claim that it has more standing than that of another is somewhat pretentious, and I'd rather not deal with a thread created purely for amusement being limited to "amusement within certain moral and philosophical guidelines." Either everything is fair game, or nothing is.

Perhaps next time you get a bit huffy about a post which contradicts your posts (or worldview), I hope you'll consider reading what it actually says as opposed to choosing key words and fitting them into a preconceived black-and-white essentialization of the conflict.

Now, who was a funny picture to share?

I could genuinely debate with a vacuum. And have done, as a matter of fact. ;)

The whole point of my first post about it was to say how I thought it was very tasteless comedy.

You came off like you had no value for human life is all. I didnt mean to offend you by it but it just seemed so by the way you came off in your comment.

I read it as: "This is tasteless comedy and you shouldn't be allowed to make such jokes."

I was getting annoyed with the moral high-horse that people keep riding on, fucking with my (and your) civil liberties. I saw the post as an extension of that. I'm not sure where you get a devaluation of humanity in my post, but the point was to keep the forum open.

My apologies.

(The ironic part of all this is that I didn't find the joke in question funny.)

I'm not sure why the picture has Goomba as Voltaire, but nevertheless.

Whew, this thread has gotten more hevy than Devy.....

The below picture is also possibly in poor taste, although I don't think the puppies are real....(that's what he said).
