My cat is called Freya after the Norse goddess of love.
Gonna call my kids Loki and Odin if I get my way too!

*whew* I'm glad to know I'm not the only one round here with a cat. Cats are great pets; Not all of them are aloof assholes, like some people think!
About the names: That's cool!! Do it!

And Zeus is a great name, FFLinchpin. I concur. It's a good big-dog name.

My cat's name, Pickles, doesn't really imply he takes after Godliness, or has any great qualities... but it sure fits him. He's a real doofus; that fool always does that cat-leg thing, where they lift one hind leg straight up in order to get better licking-access to the butt region. Gross.

Yeah he's actually a really good friend to me now. I look for him when I get up in the morning and I spend a while with him before I go to bed. We play loads and I very often take time out to spend time with him. He's supposed to be my mums dog but he's more my friend than anyone else's.

Awww dude I know I was just saying how I would have like a husky but ended up with a Jack Russel. But he is the cutest most friendly JR ever!!!

I do know what it's like to lose a pet. It's like losing a human friend, very very painful. I hate going through it.

Here's my friend....

I surely hope you speak of Pickles from the TV show and not the real life Pickles...AKA Gene Hoglan...

You know... I was speaking of the character, but either would amuse me just the same. *shudder* Seeing Gene lick his bits would be, life changing but not in a good way

Cerberus:

3 headed hound, the offsping of two monsters, Typhon and Echidna. He was the watchdog of the Greek underworld and stopped anyone trying to return to the land of the living. One of Heracles [Hercules] labours was to fetch Cerberus, a challenge the god of the dead, Hades, allowed him to undertake, but only on condition that he was unarmed. Like the Gorgons, Cerberus was so dreadful to behold that anyone who looked upon him was turned to stone. He was brother to the Hydra and the Chimaera.

From the Encloypaedia of Mythology by Arthur Cotterell - which I am very glad I bought.

As an interesting side note my nickname at school was Janus (the pain in the anus). Anyone who recognises the connection gets double points.

Janus? The moon of Saturn? 8)
Anyway, if I get another rottweiler- I'll probably name him Cerberus. My last one was Anubis. 13 years old, best friend EVER.

Meanwhile, back to the UN-awesomeness... (hint hint)

We have one of those.. it wasn't my choice either and I wouldn't say I loved it really, but he can be pretty good entertainment value. He's grown on me I guess. I'm used to bigger dogs, border collies and a Samoyed that I used to own as a kid. The Jackie is still a pup really though, he's got some lessons still to learn.
