Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

norwegian band, they toured with emperor during their reunion

they sound like opeth but WITH BALLS

You sir, are wrong. This band sounds almost nothing like Opeth. They have a rather original and nice sound, but I wouldnt call them "Opeth WITH BALLS" because they dont have the progressive side that Opeth has. They have more of a Textures style sound.

So...the new Cult of Luna Album (for fans of Neurosis and all that post hardcore /metal stuff), the new Nachtmystium Album (I'd call this LSD Black Metal), the new Klimt1918 Album (kinda like pop rock like Coldplay or U2 meets Sigur Rós), the latest Sigur Rós Album (if you don't know them I can't help you either), the latest Audrey Horne Album (kinda like 70's rock meets modern metal), the new Benediction Album(old school Death Metal with lotsa groove and Dave from Anaal Nathrakh on the mic)...they are all very lovely and you should listen to them or you are so not cool at all and will never have any success with the opposite sex..and probably not with the same sex either...but you can always try Biert and Sab because they are always desperate.

audrey horne? sounds like someone is a fan of twin peaks... but so am i, so i'll check this out soon enough.

This is less a recomendation than a nod of respect to the late, great: The Crown.
I first got into them 'round '98 with Eternal Death and Hell is Here(They were called Crown of Thorns then but had to change the name 'cause a Christian band already had it!!LOL .Which was good 'cause The Crown is perfect ).I liked it alot but lost touch with their sound just when they were really getting their stride.I must totally endorse the albums Crowned in Terror/Crowned Unholy and particularly DEATHRACE KING. Deathrace King is simply a masterpiece of death/thrash/death n roll. You won't be dissapointed.
Long live The Crown!!

Intronaut - Recommended to everyone, they are like a mix of Isis, Meshuggah, Opeth and so many others. Very good band. DsD will probably dig them because on their album Prehistoricisms I'm pretty sure I heard some fretless bass! haha

Trepalium - Recommended to fans of Gojira, Meshuggah, and Dillinger Escape Plan. Not as crazy as DEP, and more rooted in a style similar to Gojira.

The progressive Heavy Rock scene is going ape shit in Australia at the moment. But it's hard for alot of these bands to break out from our shores, since we are 'so far away'. But everyone should check out: Cog, Karnivool, Dead Letter Circus, Mammal, Sydonia, Sleep Parade, The Birds of Tokyo etc etc....

Vladimir Cochet has several different "one-man-band" projects in which he does everything. I mean everything (song writing, recording, playing, production, art work, distribution, ground work... everything) I'd highly recommend his three projects.

Mirrorthrone (symphonic black/death metal):

Weeping Birth (more brutal, blast-beat blackened-death metal):

www.myspace.com/weepingbirth

Unholy Matrimony (more traditional black metal, you might say:

Apart from that I'd recommend the post-modern composer (who recently died a few years ago) Ligeti. Stanley Kubrick used a lot of his music in his movies. He's got a lot of great:

Not my favorite pieces of his, but should give you a good idea.

I dont think anyone mentioned Chromakey yet. You can go to the website chromakey.com and listen to everything he (Kevin Moore formerly of Dream Theater) has done with this project. Very un-metal, some of the best piano in rock period.
