Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

Okay, so I go to a private Christian school, and I love it there. The people running it are amazing, and it has some of the greatest kids I've ever encountered. However, the school's crossed a line. I kept my mouth shut when they made stupid dress code rules, for example I can't wear a jacket inside. I kept my mouth shut with their stupid hair rules for dudes, where my hair can't touch my collar. But they've gone too far. How, may you ask? They fucking incorporate religious bullshit into every class, to the point where I feel like I'm getting cheated out of an education.

For example, today in Physical Science we watched a video about dinosaurs. I don't know what dinosaurs have to do with Physical Science (it's a class about Newton's 3 laws and stuff like that), but dinosaurs are badass so I didn't complain. Turns out the video was just some religious propaganda bullshit. It talked about how dinosaurs and humans co-existed and shit, and how dragons are factual creatures. I'm not denying that theory, but the video was so fucking ridiculous I really want to. It was all like "hey guys guess what scientists are assholes and they say that dinosaurs and humans lived in different eras but that's not true because the bible didn't say so lol scientists eat babies!" That's not fucking science, I have a Theology class for that shit. What pisses me off is these videos, as well as my teacher, take from science's discoveries when it's convenient for them, and then they try to teach us that scientists are all evil and going to hell. That's not right, I don't give a fuck what the Bible says.

As for my Theology class, that class is a load of horseshit as well. We just sit and are essentially brainwashed to go against the rest of the world. That description may be a little dramatic, but it's essentially true. Our teacher just goes ahead and pulls the worst examples of Atheists and stuff like that, and goes off on them using stong, well developed "arguments" against them. Though I use the word arguement losely, he pretty much goes "this isn't right because the bible dosen't say so believe me or go to hell!" I'm gonna start calling him "Mr. Stickman", just because it's the only way I can really say anything.

And sure, I'd love to go complain about all this, but I can't. I'd just be branded as unholy and then I'd have to put up with all of that even more, because they'd just keep trying to convince me to "turn to the light." I'm not saying I'm an Atheist or whatever, I just don't believe in what they're preaching. My parents are paying alot of money for me to go here, and I honestly feel like they're throwing their money away. And that's not even the worst part. The worst part is that I CAN'T LEAVE. The credits I get from there are no good anywhere else, so if I were to go to another high school I'd have to start over as a freshman. So pretty much I can either stay and suppress my rage for four years, I can go start over, or I can drop out, and I'm not going to drop out. Holy shit, I don't think I've written so much in a long time. But yeah, sorry for the super long post, I'm just really, really frustrated. If you made it this far, thanks for reading.

You know myspace has a thing called blogs, you can post this kind of thing there.

That being said I read you entire post. If you dont like it, leave...thats the only way you will get anything else. Private school's can be better for a few things, but typically to have an unbiased education you need to go to a public school.

Think of it like this... for some people, religeon is an escape, an escape from the real truth, and they like it that way, so if you try and change their reality in some way, ofcourse they're going to get defensive. They believe in a fuckin' GOD for fucks sake... believing for one second that there's some supreme being thats going to come save us all.. is just some mindless bullshit to take there mind off what is really happening.
What I'm saying is that they are too lazy to even think for a second that, outside that bubble of their's, there could be a true answer into finding themselves!
Just take everything they say with a pinch of salt... and maybe chuckle a little, your way better off hating the school and its ethics, than conforming

Who would have thought that a Christian school would teach Christian things?! It's unheard of!
Honestly Nathan.. try to appreciate it for what it is. It will really pay off in the long run, even if you aren't Christian. It's nice to have an alternative point of view than the mainstream.
As for death of muzak.. if you consider yourself a science minded person, check out pascals wager and then perhaps summa theologica.

I kinda know your pain. Our former second minister of education was such kind of creationist fucknut, including "dragons were dinosaurs living with people" stuff. Fortunately now he's laughing stock, got kicked off his chair and him and his whole party went into oblivion after few affairs with stuff like employing neo-nazis in governmental position etc, generally people don't trust this nonsense (I hope). That's harmul stuff you have there, teaching people some voodoo instead of proper science. It's still beyond me how few-thousand year old scripture made to explain world to the people in times where there was essentially no science (and information flow between parts of the world sucked, you know "I've seen 15 animals in my life, must be all species in the world, let's putem on the fucking boat") can be still used as a valid source of "scientific" information today. Srsly, I can understand scripture as a moral code, but making science out of it?

But yeah, christian schools. Shoulda find nihilistic one.

Nathan, Since this is still a 'kind' of science class, are you allowed to form a rebuttal? If you really feel strongly about it maybe you can form a rebuttal. This is an interesting time for science. Many rules that we've followed for much of the 'modern' world is starting to be re evaluated. That said, good science looks at ALL possabilities. The comedian Ben Stein (I.Q.158) is a 'creationist' who is challanging what he perseves as an attack on anything creationalist or 'intellegent' design. He forms very strong scientific arguments for his opinions. You should do the same. It's a strange world. Who knows? But hopefully you won't just say one thing 'cause' that's what you've been told,or it's the opposite of what you've been told.
If you really want to craw them, show them some of the youtube clips of really backwards hardcore religious people trying to even defend literally flat earth theory.
But, you know, scientifically, we are in a kinda unstable time right now. Many 'rules' we thought were unbreakable we find are very breakable. We are discovering things which do not do what we 'know' and should be doing something else.
I don't believe in supernatual, but I do believe in super science which may one day point the way to 'God' who knows?
They say some people have a ''God' Gene in them that is sensitive to the presense of this type of universal 'vibe' that may drive them crazy to explain it.
P.S. Glad to see your original avitar back FTWLOL

Also your religious education makes me feel very cross. That just shouldn't be allowed at all. I'd find it difficult to take my teachers seriously if they were coming out with that kind of dogma in unrelated subjects. However, I would hope that outside of the nonsense the education as far as maths, english, history (post 0 A.D. anyway), etc, goes reasonably well? Deth's rebuttal idea would be good indeed but I get the impression from what you've said that this plan would likely leave you burning in their version of the pits of hell and that your parents would get dragged into it all. I can see how this leaves you feeling somewhat trapped. The other option is just to block it out/ignore it as much as you can and coast through the rest of the education that way. Depends on your personality I guess and how much you can let it flow past without stress. Whichever course you choose... Good Luck!

I went to a private school too but fortunately the religious aspects here were generally confined to a quick blast of some jolly hymn tune at a 10 minute assembly followed by a "Be excellent to each other" type message, or "Wasn't Jesus a cuddly chap!" Hell didn't get mentioned, I'm glad to say. And no mention of religion was made outwith assembly or the couple of R.E. periods in a week.

I just wish, globally, 'faith schools' were not allowed. I'm sure we can encourage moral and ethical behaviour in young people without the various sky fairies being involved at all.

I went to a Christian brothers school and it was a great education. youd have mass and such and there would be talk about god and religion was a compulsory subject but it didnt leak into other subjects where it wasnt relevant. im glad religion was compulsory though. it gave me a vast understanding about not just christianity but all sorts of major religions. not that i beleive in any religion but its good to know.

There's the guy on youtube, who likes to waste his time on polemizing with creationists, he did few movies discussing Stein's movie. He shows that Stein's using strawman techniques, mistaking abiogenesis with evolutionary science, uttering lines about "science killing people" and generally being a real life troll. I think they're these:

Interesting stuff if you have a bit of time to waste.

Isn't the most of science still based on equations of dudes living, like, fifty years ago? Anyway, I think there's common misconception that trusting science and not faith is arrogant. Religions claim having shit figured out in one book, and the sense of science is admitting that there's stuff you don't know and want to change it, and THAT is kinda humble.

I see no problem in faith based school, as long as they teach you the subjects and keep the religion part to other areas. It just shouldn't be brought into things like science.

And Deth, Ben Stein is the man. I love how he questions everything everyone believes about creationism/evolution/intelligent design.

Oooh this makes me think of when I went to a private school for two years. I was not a happy panda. I hated the dress code. Not that I had a problem wearing a uniform. I just wanted to be able to wear a coat when I was cold and I didnt want to have to wear a short kilt while it was snowing outside. I fought tooth and nail for the teachers to let me wear pants or lets me carry a hoodie to wrap around my knees but they wouldnt let me so for the two years I went there my knees were very cold! At that school they also kept the temperature inside cold so that no one would get sleepy. It wasnt a religious school but I think they went over the top with rules. Kids need express themselves. No colored hair, no piercings, no 'punk' or 'strange' hair styles, no nail polish. We were not alloud to have locks on our lockers because we had to prove that we trusted eachother. At least no one stole my stuff they just stuck rotton food in my locker instead...lol... kids are weird. Because I was the only one that listened to metal music and I would hide in the practice rooms and play rock music durring break people started to think that I was very strange (they were all VERY conservitive). Then once they found out that I was dating another girl that really did them in and lots of crazy rumers got started about me. Rumers that I drank blood and sacrificed animals! I mean Im a hippie for god sake and vegetarian!

Then there was one incident where this guy kept pissing me off and tormenting me. I told him to stop and he didnt. I asked him severel times and then held up a mechanical pencil telling him that if he didnt stop then I would stab him with it. He didnt believe me so I clicked the pencil until there was half an inch of lead sticking out and stabbed it in his arm and broke off the piece of lead so it was stuck in my arm. That was 9 years ago. Other than that I have never done anything violent. I guess I felt that he had "crossed the shit line"

Because Im autistic I got teased in school a lot for being different. Because I had a hard time in the first year of public school my mom thought I would have an easier time in a private school because they had a zero tolerence policy with bullying. But that didnt stop it from happening. It just made it so the kids were more subtle and unoticed with their bullying making it easier for them to get away with it. They tried very hard to push me out of the school. When I was having difficulties with the school work (it was more advanced then the work and public school) the teachers didnt try to help me. They just tried to dump more on me so that I would flunk out. I was barely passing and it was too much for me so I went to an art school for my last two years of high school. My grades went from Cs and Ds to Bs as soon as I switched schools.

I dont really know what my mom was thinking. A school with an advanced education is not a good place for someone with learning dissabilities like me. She wasted a lot of money by having me go there. I NEVER had plans to go to university because I have too much trouble reading. Thats why Im happy to be an artist and a farmer.

Man I wrote a lot of useless bunk again. I do that a lot haha. But on the topic of religion. I remember when my boyfriend (I love him so much!) told me that humans and dinosours existed at the same time and I couldnt stop laughing (thank god I didnt hurt his feelings. Hes an open minded christian) He also tried to tell me one time that there were people that lived to be over 900 year old in the bible. I had to explain to him that it might just be a story and that the bible shouldnt always be taken literally.

And I can see why a lot of christians dont believe in evolution. Would you really want to believe that we came from retarded fish frogs that had butt sex with a squirrel, had a retard baby that looked like a monkey which had another retard baby that made you? Lol gotta love southparks explanation of evolution!

Remember Nathen. High school is very hard to get through. Some people have it easy and sneak by under the rader without any problems but most of the time high school is a pain in the ass. But once your finished which is only about three more years for you I think, then you will feel like a big weight has been lifted off your shoulders and you will feel more happy with your life. High school is a place for a bunch of teens with self esteem problems to butt heads and takes out their problems on eachother because they are stuck in the same place whether they like it or not. Luckily when your an adult you can choose not to put up with that shit or those people.

Man those were some crazy years back then but Im definately happy with what I have learned from my experiences. Im not sure if I made any sence to you guys. Sometimes I dont make sence when I say stuff.
