maybe so but definitely not time to start. its a known problem for albums in the last 10 or so years. its sad really. such good music comes out and yet its being ruined by maximization and the need to be "LOUD" i wish modern artists would go back to the old sound signatures,
Image
but after some song imports into audacity i can say ziltoid was maximized.

look at the picture and tell me that isn't maximized. thats a screanshot of hyperdrive off the ziltoid album in audacity

i love your songs to death dev but please. i beg you try not to maximize. a little loudening of the quiet parts is ok but don't make it a flat bar fight the trend. show them what real sound quality is.

im prolly going to get a lot of flak for this post but i have to say it.

I agree with NFF.

Please take Death Magnetic as an example of how it should not be done and make it sound great without hurting my ears :D

If anyone could set an example it's you, Dev. Besides, from what you've been telling us so far I don't get the impression that a brick-walled mix will suit it.

Come on dudes, I don't think there's any need to tell Dev how to produce his albums.

i will take what i can get from dev. but if their was a single % chance that i would be able to influence the final product into something better the by god im going to voice my opinion! if dev can evolve his production to higher levels why shouldent he strive to do so? i can understand brickwalling SYL thats because SYL is a brick wall to the face at 60mph.

but as a music lover i dont want to see any artist bastardize the music.

on another note have any of you heard sound stage before? its a wondrous and joyous thing that surrounds you in a world of sound. . cheazy yes but it really is a wonderful thing.

but think about it. dev's music with real tangible kick and punch from the drums so that it hits you in the chest. when you brick wall you lose all that the bass becomes muddy and distorted the highs dont have the sparkle that they used to and then everything just washes over the mids.

but alas that is my opinion on how music should sound. you may not have the same as mine which is inevitable so lets not fight about it.

i'm just hopeing to see the genre evolve into something an audiophile can be proud of. i want to see metal become as popular as it was in the 80's dont you all? and in the process be known for high quality recordings.

EDIT: to what Dev posted while i was writing this massive monologue

OMFG THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU ROCK!!!
