You can't see my face so it's inconclusive evidence I'm afraid :P

It's pretty ridiculous to think that a musician owes you something, just because you're a fan.
Musicians are people too, and aside from having other commitments, they're either in the right mood to create something, or they're not. Why would you want someone to force out an album? The end result would not be as good, as it would be if they'd just let things flow naturally. The fact that someone has decided to sell their music, doesn't obligate them to do anything. Some people have such a ridiculous sense of entitlement to things.

I normally don't post in these kind of threads, because I think anything worth saying on this kind of subject will probably already have been said by several other people, but I just wanted to say that there are people out there that do appreciate the music, and understand that whatever comes next, will come out in its own time.

Migstopheles wrote:^ this is why viewing the Metallica forums is amusing. Loads of 15 years olds crying "we are the fans, we pay your wages, IT IS YOUR DUTY!"
Ridiculous attitude.

Is anyone asking them to stop making albums? Seriously, if I had magic powers, I'd make it so Metallica could never make another album. That said, I'd probably go back in time, and perform said magic right after they released the black album.

I bet no one has ever expressed dislike for Metallica's new albums on the internet before. I am a pioneer of interesting and unique internet opinions.

big ups to u for dissing the black album and all there after, after and justice for all they really died in the arse i reckon. And i cant remember which album it is, but they have some lyrics which are so similar to Rushs 'witch hunt' its not funny.

I, for one, am really looking forward to Devin's new release, when he chooses to release it.
I think it benefits us all in the end to wait for something that is a labor of love to the artist, because as most of us would know, some artists can fall short if they are pushed to release material that is not up to their own personal standards.

I've loved each and every album that Dev has released but i understand that creativity cant be pushed, its a natural process. i find that when trying to write songs, myself.
so if it is this year or 3 years from now, i will still be patiently waiting for the next masterpiece to make it's way to my stereo :string:

"Make a new album" threads sound like my dad saying "Time's almost up for ur final exams and I haven't seen you with your books yet". Brutal.

Imo such threads need to be closed immediately :) just because they agitate the fragile artist's mind.

I've been out of the loop for a while and finally log in to find this wonderful news! I've been busy with other things, so its been difficult keeping up with music. I'm so happy to hear that Devin is coming out with a new album and it's touching to see him write such personal things for us.

I can't wait! :D

See, the thing is, I know he wants to make more music and I know he enjoys making music, but the problem is, I'm not hearing it! We know he's up to something, so naturally, we want to know what it is. I think it's perfectly fine to be excited as all hell for more of something you love. (Some people are a bit pushy). See, I can wait, but I don't really want to. I know Dev is on break and stuff, which is not only fine, but deserved and expected, but his music is just so good that knowing more is coming makes it worse! It's almost like Christmas eve when you were younger, you can't sleep just because you know what treasures await. Much like his new work.

Take all the time in the world, we'll still want to hear your fantastic music. Wether it be 2 weeks, or 2 years we go without a release, we know it'll be good. (But we still REALLY want to hear it! :D )

I second that. Don't get me wrong, Devy deserves his peace and quiet and pushy fans would piss me off a bit, but i'd just chuck up a quick message with maybe a cheeky little countdown, like ' Only a month to go.....' or something. Either way it is almost like xmas eve, waiting for something that you know will be really good and you can't wait, but I can wait because ive been waiting eagerly ever since Zilly so an extra month or two (hopefully :P ) won't hurt.

So Devy, no pressure dude because I know these things don't happen over night, I get the same 'requests' from people about my band's up and coming ep etc and it does bug me a bit, people just need to be a little more understanding and respectful and in the meantime, listen to the entire back catalogue to keep your juices flowing.

I for one, CANNOT get enough of Ocean Machine at the moment. Is it just me or is the production on that album absolutely astounding?

It is outstanding. That whole album is something special, I can't quite put my finger on it.

But it's pure magic.

I just have to remind myself that some of the best music, takes a while to make; that could mean years. So while it's hard to wait, the wait is definitely worth it, when the outcome is a great album. I would imagine that most people would understand that. :D (An exception to this comment might be GnR -Chinese Democracy)

Just keep doing what you're doing Mr. Devin!
