The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

I'm glad Dev posted that list of "things that don't offend me lately." Long ago I listened to Ravi Shankar because of Dev's recommendation and even though I thought I "got the whole thing" on first listen and there wasn't much too it, I grew to love some of the tracks much deeper. So next I'll be listening to:

Things lately that haven't totally offended me:

First song on Frengers by Mew.
An older Afghan Whigs song
'Sights And Sounds' new record.
Some new song by Air
Paul Horn
Ravi Shankar
Rapoon - Darker By Light (8 times today already...15 yesterday.)

Rapoon? Sounds like Raccoon. I like those. It's probably awesome.

Huh? Is that officially news?

P.S. JFAC is weak sauce.

P.P.S. Cats are special, my cat was actually just hit by a van (no longer with us :( ) and I was pretty upset.

P.P.P.S. So uh.... release date?

The first track off Mew's Frengers...that's "Am I Wry? No" right? Great tune, as are many others off that album. Never pegged the Dev as a Mew fan (or at least a fan of one Mew song, anyway). Cool beans.

Dev's posts always have such a calming sensability to them, and are filled with mind-tickling goodies and bits of odd info. But then they always leave me wanting more or asking questions I thought I'd never ask based on things I'd never think about.

Not a fan of this ( ) emoticon, either. It looks like its upper lip is twitching instead of representing laughing!

Its gonna be cool to hear Dev doing what he feels, instead of what he feels he should.

That was an awesome update Dev!
I love how he writes in a 'stream of consciousness' style - whatever pops into his head seems to hit the page straight away, without any editing. That's great. At one point I thought that the whole post could work as the entire body of lyrics for the next album! That'd be cool. It's all good food for thought. One thing I can determine from that post is that, whatever the 'real Dev' is, I think those of us who have followed his career since the early days will note that the 'real Dev' appears to be alive and well (at least as far as we can tell from the written word): a little manic, confused, questioning, passionate, angry, happy and all the rest. It's all still there.
Thanks Dev. Lots and lots of love and support from my way to you.
And btw, that speech the other day was sensational, and porn sites are a problem - I tend to oscillate between a need that is like hunger and outright revulsion. That can be confusing.
I hadn't considered that true, ongoing peace is an impossibility if one has to go on the offensive to keep at bay any aggressive tendencies within oneself. Perhaps our best shot at peace is permanent solitude so that we can't hurt anyone and they can't hurt us, though that doesn't cut out the pain of being alone and unable to share.
All very interesting :)

Dev the philosopher! wow i wasnt expecting that when i got home today... I cant wait to hear what you are making, i dont think you need to be confined into any particular genre, all i know is anything youve done in the past youve excelled at and if this is going to be diffrent from the others, then whatever it is it will be magical in its own way because it will have that special Dev quality. I still cant get over the magical feeling i get whilst listening to the hummer, its really beautiful and peaceful. Who cares if not many people get it, as far as i can see youve never gone out of your way to seek mass attention anyway. Cool news on the guitar/amp!

Life is a paradox and you can sit and think about it all your life and never realise what its meaning truly is.

Thanks for the inspiration you give me and everyone else who is a follower of your work (and rambleings).

The Dev wrote:Still believe in Infinity as the metaphor for God, I'm not a Christian, although it was interesting coming to that conclusion...Neither am I a Satanist, and that was interesting too.

I was thinking about this exact thing a week ago and came to the exact same conclusion. Sweet.

I enjoyed reading the post...

But i prefer badgers to wombats.

Not sure why, Wombats do make me happy, but badgers tip me that little bit further over the edge.

I would like to point out as well (this is actually 100% true) I have the teletubbies cd single that they released god knows how long ago.....signed.....by Coal Chamber! Bought the 'tubbies cd for my dad at xmas for a pisstake present in Camden, on the same day, Coal Chamber were doing a signing in metalhead...so.....why the hell not.

I am now the owner of probably the owner teletubbies cd signed by coal chamber. Whoopie.

Anyone else got anything signed by someone that really makes no sense????

My next goal is to get a melon signed by basil brush.
