Every link I could find was 128kbps =/ I hate low quality...Oh well I want to hear what the final product sounded like and "That Was Just Your Life" Sounds totally old school.

OK I've heard the leak a couple of times now. BrunoN is not gonna like it :P it's like a tribute to Clip Burton, they should have called it Clip 'em All

Anyway, overall it's not bad really.

That Was Just Your Life is a proper kick in the face, showing that Metallica are back on track.
The End Of The Line seems a bit like a St. Anger leftover. The riff is very similar to Some Kind Of Monster, and the song seems to be cut-and-pasted together. However, there's a pretty badass solo :D
We've (probably) all heard The Day That Never Comes. Decent song is the line of Fade To Black, Sanitarium, One and The Unforgiven (probably a load more but those were all track #4 as well). I really like the solo's.
Cyanide is also up for preview, and has been played live.
I was cautious of The Unforgiven III... It starts out good though, I like piano's. The rest of the songs is good, but doesn't live up to the epic intro.
The instrumental track is called Suicide & Redemption and at first it doesn't sound or feel like an instrumental track at all (except that there's no singing). It takes a couple of minutes until it gets to a part that has the feel of epicness that justifies an instrumental track.
Another one of the preview tracks was My Apocalypse, which is just old-school. Thrash baby! This is probably the only track that doesn't need the cut-the-crap haircut. In fact it could have been on Kill 'Em All and no-one would have complained back then.

There are a couple of things I'd like the say about the album overall...
  • Maybe it's just a poor rip, or the promo, but it sounds terribly clipped. See pic.
  • Lars Ulrich is an awful drummer.
  • The songs are all unnecessarily long. Shortest song is 5 minutes, the longest is 10, and almost all the songs have parts that don't really add anything to it, that seemed added to artificially make the song longer and seem more complex. I'd love to hear a 'cut-the-crap' remix where all songs have at least 2 minutes of crap cut out. Would make the running time a more sensible 50-something minutes too.
  • Kirk Hamster is on fucking fire. Fire I tell ya!! Seriously, he's making up for not doing anything on St. Anger.
  • Lyrics vary between cheesy and far-sought, and very little in between.

So what's my final judgement? It's really not bad, heaps better than St. Anger for sure. Sounds like crap though. It's a bit early for me to make a final judgement, but I'd say 3.5 or 4 stars out of 5. A remastered 'cut-the-crap'-remix would score a bit higher though :P

My friend described this as a 'hotdog sausage', which seems fitting. They tried to stuff as much crap as possible into a limited space.

Actually these are crappy CD rips...supposedly. I guess a French record store put it out on shelves a few days early lol.

Also I think the album kicks ass. Unforgiven III was my least favorite track at first, but on second listen I really dig it now. I think Metallica really reinvented themselves on this album and answered the question the 90's couldn't : "Where did Metallica go?!"

I got the download yesterday and haven't stopped listening to it since...still digesting it all because there is so much going on in each song and each listen it grows more and more on me. I can't believe just how fucking infectious this album is...they certainly made up in a big way for the past few albums they put out! Far exceeded my expectations for sure.

The demos may just have better sound quality than the actual album

Got the download of the album and am siked! Its back to their roots! The pre-chorus bit on Judas Kiss in particular where hes saying "Surrender your life to me" is fuckin sick.
Fully impressed and Im glad I can finally be proud and show off the band that got me into music once again.
