I have an impulse to try to arrange Storm or something for a smallish orchestra (+ drums and a singer). Two things:

1) I don't have access to an orchestra that I could persuade to try out an arrangement at the moment, I surely don't know anybody who can sing like Devin, and while I do know a Devin-worshiping drummer, he lives a couple thousand miles away from me. So I was thinking maybe I should arrange the music and post it for somebody else to try out.

2) Is it be illegal? Would HevyDevy sue my pants off?

I'm not sure coversongs are illegal in any way.

Technically it is illegal, I've seen warnings on albums saying "Any kind of public interpretation of any of these songs is punishable by law" Some bands are very strict on it, others arent. I think Dev would definitely be flattered by someone arranging a song like Storm for an orchestra.

Goat did an orchestral interpretation of Shitstorm, although we still don't have actual proof.
