needs an assload of more compression, drums need some force behind them, and that guitar tone induitably needs a helluva lot more crunch

I agree about the drums needing force and some compression, but the guitars need less gain imo.

also: cut me some slack, it's just me in my room doing it all by myself :)

I agree with SJ, keep the drums the way they are. The guitars could be a fair bit quieter though, to let the drums come through a bit more instead of just compressing them. Also maybe cut off some of the guitar's low end, let the bass handle that (or give the guitars a little boost around 3-4 kHz and take off some of the gain). Lead guitar during the sweep parts sounds great.

Cool tune overall, nice job. :D

Just because you produce doesn't mean your opinion on how things should sound is right. No one is doubting you know more about production and what sounds good from a certain standpoint (commercial release or nu-metal or whatnot) but that might not be what other people think sounds good.
What music HAVE you produced if I may ask? Judging by the fact that you are 18, it can't be all that much.

Thanks! I actually turned the drums down a bit from another mix I had :) And the guitar doesn't have all that much low end, it is mostly handled by the bass but I will go back and take another look at it. Thanks for the tip.
Unfortunately the 3.4khz region is very very fizzy because I recorded through a Palmer amp sim, so dunno about boosting that. The Palmer lends itself much better to lead guitar than rhythm it seems. Oh well, but I might be getting a sweet iso cab soon.

Yeah, guitars kinda overpower drums, but it may be shit soundcard I have in my workputer (rather useless even with decent headphones), I'll check it at home.

I like that loud, clicky drums, by the way :)

i call those drums tickpop. coz they usually go tick-pop-tick-pop-tick-pop-tick-pop! < kick-snare-kick-snare etc :P

Yeah, sounds off on my speakers at work too. But sounds fine on my monitor speakers at home. I will have to do another mix

Yeah, sound better @ home, though guitars still appear bit too loud.

I like the drums, by the way (now when I can hear them properly). They have this classic death metal vibe.
