I can't say where it started exactly, but I did my best to popularize it. As I recall, there was a poster who had a Bill Cosby avatar. He (I believe he was male) used the phrase and I thought it was perfect. The idea that you would voluntarily fuck off seemed like it would solve a lot of the world's problems. So, I used it as often as I could. I wish I could remember that poster's name but I can't and I searched but I couldn't find it.

Anyway, I think everyone should volunteer to occasionally just fuck off.

Absolutely right, that's the guy. Seems he's been AWOL like me. I try to drop by and read the threads when I can but haven't had a lot of time lately with a new job and young-ish family.

I could be wrong about the actual derivation of the phrase, but I think I'm not. I was very active on the forums for a little while there and don't recall it being used until I saw DevonH say it. I did my best to spread the meme. I even used it on another forum that wasn't as, shall we say, liberal as this one and some people didn't really dig on the idea of fucking off, even if you were volunteering to do it.
