If you think you can do better, go ahead. Send a PM to CyberMartyr or Coma and I'm sure they'll fix you up with a way to (attempt to) fix it.

If you don't think you can do better, shut up and sit back. It's been said dozens of times:

The admins are waiting for the new version of the board software, phpBB3, to come out. Once it is out, and installed, all current problems should be gone. Until then, be patient.

Now I hear you asking, "when will this thing be out?". Well, the answer is simple. (As with most open-source software) It'll be out when it's finished. Which happened to be yesterday (seriously). So just be patient, I'm sure they're working on it, or about to work on it :)

if they experienced serious problems, and were waiting on updates, why not roll back to a version of phpbb 2 (yes 2, i aint ever seen in fuck up) while tinkering on this badboy?

also.... SQL is my bitch.

mysqldump is your friend. I don't want to tediously whore up my way to 500th post again :)

The board currently is running phpBB2. Some things are broken, but the admins feel that it isn't worthwhile investing a whole lot of work into that right now, when they'll be upgrading to phpBB3 very soon. And I agree.

And administrating a forum is a bit more work than "SQL mumbo-jumbo". You'll need some serious insights in SQL (or whatever variant), the database system used, php, webservers, the operating system it's running on and the architecture of the information system. Good luck with that ;)

You're at 499 pal ;)
But I'm sure the database will be maintained during the upgrade.

All I'm saying is, sit back and wait for things to happen. Most of the administrating on these forums is done by volunteers, you can't expect them to jump up and spend hours looking for a minor bug. They have other things to do. The things that are most important work properly (posting!!) so there's nothing to worry about.

I'm sure things will be fixed pretty soon now that phpBB3 is out. :)

Well, with 3 finally being released...hopefully Doug will weave his magic and we'll be able to help you folks out again.

What we've been running here is kinda a hybridized version of a coupla earlier phpBB versions. Some older modules are sitting alongside some new ones (which are mostly here to combat spamming), and they aren't all that compatible over a long term situation.

It has been a little frustrating sitting here with hands tied, but an overhaul is in sight so relief is definitely on the way. 8)
