Cowboy Bebop and Neon Genesis Evangelion is nice :) anybody seen Love Hina? It's a few years since the last time I saw it, so it might not be as cool now, but I remember having quite a few laughs watching that series :D also I remember liking Ninja Scroll, as mentioned earlier in the thread.

Other than that... Hmm. One of my friends is a Naruto-nerd el grande. He's in love with Full Metal Alchemist too. Berserker is supposed to be cool, haven't gotten around to watch more than the first episode yet.

Oh, one more thing! Get a hold of something called Puni Puni Poemi! :D it's two episodes, and it's probably the most crazy anime I've ever seen! And I mean crazy as in hahaha-crazy, not sick :P

Mmh, thought I would've partitipate in such a thread already, but no.

Cowboy Bebop yep', of course, Samurai Champloo is nice too (by the same director and studio I think), less mmh... "epic and emotional", but gerat anyway.

Puni Puni Poemi yup', the first 10 minutes are amaizing (and the rest too, but the beginning si 'intense'), congrats to the seiyu. (But it may not be that great if you're new to animes, there are many references to other animes that you'd miss, or misunderstand).

The production has been pretty uninteressant this year (or maybe I'm just sick of it).

I think the most recent I've watch is Haruhi. Not so incredible as to be labeled "fourth impact" (in reference to evangelion), but cool. Takes some time to take off, the 1st episode was boring (I couldn't stand the chick's voice, but she's a caricature of the shy girl in anime... well in fact the whole anime caricaturises animes as much as it benefits from of all those clichés)), eps 2 & 3 were boring too, it really becomes fun at episode 4. 11 was my fav' cuz' there are spaceships (and a parody of Legend of Galactic Heroes, and references to other SF animes).

About Legend of Galactic Heroes btw, nice one. It's old (like 15y.o. I think), so the animation is not that great, but it's interesting. It's about war & diplomacy and all that stuff in the future. A bit like star wars, but no jedis or force. More like 18th century wars with hundreds of spaceships instead of ships. Really long serie (110 OAV...), the intrigue and characters are interesting, but you may get sick of it eventually.

(And of course you can't go wrong with pretty much all the Ghibli...)

Woo!
Animee!
Ok, I'll join this conversation too.
Best ones I've seen are already many times mentioned
Elfen Lied, NGE and always watchable and
adorable and cheering Azumanga Daioh

Animes which I would recommend to others:
- Full Metal Panic! (mecha, school, comedy, action)
Kaname Chidori makes this anime worth watching :D
Has quite a lot humour, but nice action scenes and some dark military action.
Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu! wasn't that interesting, I think.
- Mushishi (spirits and stuff? :D)
Slow-going Mushishi-guy who summons black leech-kinda
spirit-things out of people.
Looks nice, sounds nice, calms you down after mecha fights :D
- Battle Vixens, what the hell was it's original title?!
If you enjoy clothes ripping apart, girls fighting girls,
brutal action and not that amazing plot, watch this!
Actually I enjoyed this very much.. I did
(Ikki Tousen! That's it :D)
- RahXephon
Already recommended, I loved this. And the singing flying things are soo cool!

I have seen so many animes, I will get back to this
subject when I can remember what I've seen

Ok I know it's one of the more well known anime's, but I had never seen Neon Genesis Evangelion before. Until last week. DAMN it's good! I've watched the first three episodes, but missed the 4th. So now I'm gonna wait until after x-mas and buy the ultimate boxset :D

Also, who prefers translated anime and who likes original language with subtitles?? I'm a massive Elfen Lied fan, and I had only ever seen it subtitled. But I saw it the other week in English and I had to turn it off half-way through! The whole thing is different! It's as if someone erased the entire audio portion and replaced it. The translations are wrong, sound effects have been replaced by cheesy alternatives, and worst of all, there were extra effects and music aswell! Elfen Lied can be very atmospheric at times, and the original audio track emphasizes these moments. But the new, extra bits are completely different, and there are even one or two spoilers! (If you've seen it you'll understand which parts). I think from now on I'm going to stick to original, subtitled anime. At least I know I'm listening to the original and not someone else's interpretation of it.

Im not much of an anime guy, but if you lik Evangelion, check out FLCL (Fooly Cooly). It's the same creators, but it's a comedy. It's weird and extreme.

Yeah I do but I never watched the English version till I noticed it was on TV and thought I'd try it out seeing as I was in front of the TV at the time.

And no I haven't watched the NGE movies yet, I'm gonna wait till I get the box set and watch everything chronologically.

I like that guy Miyazake, or what his name is (spirited away etc.). I fell that his stuff are more Japanese than anime and that is really cool. He's like Japan's answer to Sweden's Astrid Lindgren
