That depends...

PS3: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
Wii: Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc.
Xbox 360: Halo 3, everything else.

Other than that, it's all about specs and how much you are willing to pay. A safe bet would be the Xbox 360, since its geared more toward casual gamers, but still has the community of dedicated hardcore gamers.

wii or xbox. ps3 has another year till it'll have games worth buying and is massivly over priced get a premium 360 for gaming or an elite for pro and downloading.

360 has some quality games on it, as a veteran nintendo boy even i want one :D

My wii... as long as you don't plan on buying a game every month or i say it, it has some VERY good games coming on the horizon, but they are few and far between...

360 has a massive library of good games too tho

I'd say PS3. Technically (far?) superior to both XBox360 and Wii, Blu-Ray thing, mediacenter capabilities (yes it records TV now).
Pretty much every game made these days is made for all systems, so that's hardly a reason to buy one system or the other. But Sony is going to support the PS3 for 10 years (PS2 is still going strong and will still be improved and supplied with new games and stuff (Wii-like controls even?)) where I think that Microsoft will bring a new XBox is about 3 years, and drop the 360 completely (like they completely dropped Windows XP when Vista came out).

Just my 2 cents. Might be interesting to know that I'm not a fan of Nintendo and/or Microsoft though :P

Although I'm thinking about buying a second hand XBox, the old kind.

I got my Wii mod-chip today. I don't really need to buy another game unless it comes with some sort of needed accessory. (or I feel the need to really own an actual copy of that game)

Every console maker for the last 15 years have said their one would last beyond the standard 4 year cycle. It has not happened. PS4 will be announced by 2010 for sure.

Blue ray at the moment is not as popular as HD, it is better but more expensive.

While the PS3 is technically superior, developers have been using 360 dev kits for a while now and it'll be a while before we really see if there is a major difference, it's very different structure and apparently a bitch to develop for.

And I want a GAMES console, not a jack of all trades, master of none.

But I've disliked Sony since they came onto the console scene :D

i still think its too early to pick just on horse in this race
the wii is the strongest right now, but its easy to think the system will run out of steam faster than its competitors, and maybe fall in a different segment

xbox 360 is the runner up, and a true next gen console compared to the wii
its got a great games, and a good library, but it is still plagued with hardware malfunctions, wich are highly anormal for a device of that price range

ps3, coming in last, might be the marathon runner, the system has the most power, and the most media capabilities
the games just arent there yet though, and that price needs to come down

as for blu-ray, its leading in the next format wars, but it still is a tiny market compared to dvd, and i dont count it yet as an incentive to buy a ps3, other than it gives more space for game makers to put stuff on

if i'd have to have one of these consoles right now, i'd go for the 360, but im hoping to see the ps3 rise

but in the end, i'd rather wait for:
-lower prices on console and hardware (controllers etc..)
-more games (better prices, more used, greatest hits etc..)
-second generation, they alway fix bugs and such, or offer smaller/slimmer console

and in the mean time... theres a ton of awesome ps2games to play!

actually blue ray is kicking hd dvds arse at the mo....

all the killer games for xbox and wii are console exclusive, mass effect halo 3 super mario galaxy beutiful katamari... oh and despite all the bullshit ps3s blue ray player has a 1 in 3 chance of just not working (although 1 in 10 if you buy the new 80 gig one) due to the software being unfinished whn it shipped. ach i dunno give it 2 years ps3 will be great and only the price of a liver
