[quote="Archetype"]I have to get this off my chest, before I continue this post, but I really don't like Delain. We played their support in November 2006, and their music is 5 years behind. The record sounds good, but only thanks to the guest musicians. Live, they're really crap...
Okay... on with the topic:

i dnt think the age of music really matters...biomech is 10years old and i still love that! but mayb my tastes are 5 years behind.... i thought the delain album was very good. doubt i would ever hear them live tbh so their live performance isnt really an issue. also, if u supported them in november 2006 that was only a couple months after the album was released and i imagine they had only done a few live gigs by then. im sure they will become more polished as they progress.

anyway....theres been some very interesting suggestions so far...christina aguilera! very cool. shes got a good pair of lungs on her too. they would be a good match i reckon. :D

arch enemy too...i can jus imagine that one! instead of high harmonies they could do grunty scream harmonies.haha...then devin could do they clean stuff to even it out.

how about some of devins fellow canadians alanis? avril or even celine??? they could see who can go the highest!! lol

and one last one..liv kristine from Leaves eyes?

I hate Celine Dion....
but Alanis has a great voice, and Avril Lavigne, though I find her Music pretty boring, too.

Could also imagine Giorgia Fadda from Chaoswave.

I have a feeling that Dev would never pair up with Avril, Celine, or Christina, not just because they have basically nothing to do with his music styles, but also because he recently said he doesn't want to bastardize his music, and I couldn't think of three women better suited to do so! I'm not saying they're bad singers (although the only one I'd really side with would be Christina), it's just that I don't see it really happening. Of course, stranger things have happened...

An interesting pair-up I'd like to see happen would be between Mr. Townsend and Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil. Her really smooth and clean voice, and his jumping inbetween growls and melodious sounds I think would be a great combo. He'd sing the verse all kinds of heavy or something, and then they both enter duet mode for an uber-atmospheric chorus.....yeah!

I apologise...

I mean with all sincerity that I would love to hear Dev do a metal "Chain of Fools" using the original masters of Aretha Franklin's voice. That really would be just keen for me.

Anneke van Giersbergen, yay! Cristina Scabbia, nay. Alanis would be interesting too, or someone exotic like Patricia Morrison or (the deceased) Ofra Haza, Sisters Of Mercy style!

How about Angela Gossow?

...but seriously, I'd say someone along the lines of Fiona Apple, Bjork and that chick from the Yeah, Yeah Yeah's. 8)

I might be making this up, or it happened in a dream, but was there an article that came out where Devin praised Christina Aguilera for being a good singer and pushing the envelope farther than Britany Spears?

It would be cool for Dev to work with someone like her, because she is a great singer. If we're going pop, my vote would be for Kelly Clarkson.

You're not making this up. I don't remember what he said exactly about her qualities as a singer, but he showed his respect for her abilities by saying that he "would like to produce the fuck out of Christina Aguilera"

(I love quoting that line!)

Well, she is a good singer, much better than any of the other pop-diva's. The only problem is, that her music sucks, and dancing while singing is just wrong.

just from the top of my head, i'd say Regina Spektor. I think her poppy stuff is quite weak, but the chunkier piano tunes are AWESOME. Totally dig her musicality :D

And once i sent one of her songs to a friend of mine, and he said "take this then"
and sent me this slow, jazzy, kinda R&B tune, sang by a girl.
Then i listened to it and said "hey, black woman, not fair!"
and he replied
"blonde. It's Christina Aguilera".

Since then i respect her as a singer

Imogen Heap, by far. She has to be the most amazing female singer I have ever heard. The way she writes would fit perfectly with Devin and his writing. Did I mention she writes her own music! Check out songs like The Walk, Getting Scared, and tell me she wouldn't be great!

Regina Spektor.....such a good call. Although, the dynamic between her quietness and Dev bombast might blow some minds.
