The title speaks for itself, does it not? I couldn't find one of these when I looked so I said I'd start one.
5. Meshuggah - Spasm (Nothing)
I've spent many a dark lonely night listening to the lyrics. Though they sound senseless, there's some beautiful imagery there when you listen closely. And it far surpasses any other Meshuggah by way of the musical aspect of it too.
4. The Divine Comedy - either Bad Ambassador (Liberation) or Death of a Supernaturnalist (Liberation)
Bad Ambassador's just a lovely song. Whereas the lyrics of Supernaturalist make me want to give Neil Hannon a hug. It's so sad. It's like an actual epitaph.
3. My W(h!)ine in Silence - My Dying Bride (Songs of Darkness, Words of Light)
Whenever I feel lonely it cheers me up. Makes me think there might be somebody I know who misses me too. I'm rather pathetic, eh?
2. Pain Of Salvation - Beyond The Pale (Remedy Lane)
The fact that the song tells a story is what I like most about this. And I love Gildenlow's voice, it's the shiznit particularly for dramatic shoutey music like this.It reminds me of a time in my life that I regret, yet at the same time kind of miss. The last verse made me listen over and over again:
'And I have always tried to calm things down,
Swallow down, swallow down
It's just another small thorn in my crown.
But suddenly one day there was just too much blood in my eyes
And I have to take this walk down Remedy Lane of the 'when's and 'why's.'
It's just very pretty.
1. Nine Inch Nails - Hurt (The Downward Spiral)
Because if it weren't for this song, my life would presently be meaningless, and I would have no reason to live. It's so beautiful, and all the more so since it changed everything forever.. *gets all nostalgic*..
