Hey guys.

I wanted to introduce you to a band that I'm friends with. They're called Periphery. Right now they're working on their debut EP, so they don't have too many songs, but what they do have is simply mindblowing. Not only in the sense that the musicianship and compositions are superb, but mindblowing that they aren't a signed band yet. It's really that good.

The music reminds me of Meshuggah a lot, and sounds like Sikth at times too, but for some reason, I like Periphery better.

The guitarist is really amazing. He does a lot of song demo recording with the Line 6 PODXT and it's ridiculous the tones he comes up with.

So, if you would, check them out!

My particular favorites right now are Icarus Lives! (Periphery site), Ms. Doppertunity (Periphery site), and the new one, Insomnia (bulb site). Some of the songs don't have vocals yet though.

I've heard of Bulb. I'd like to hear a real album from these guys. It would most likely be killer.

It's when you heard "Icarus Lives" that you thought that, innit?

This is quality stuff no doubt, but a bit too Meshuggah-ish for my tastes (and I really like Meshuggah). I guess they will develop their own unique sound over time, hopefully.

Haha... definitely a similarity there... Icarus Lives is very Mnemicky. Also very good, with a Meshuggah twist.

Also check out Coprofago. Kind of sounds like mixing Meshuggah with Cynic or Alarum.
