That was on TV the other day. I don't know about the whole symbolism thing. My friend Britt told me that the book was largely written while the author was on drugs.

Shooting Gallery... I liked it, but gah Freddie Prinze Jr. is not a good actor

The Protector... It was okay. Not quite as engaging as I'd hoped. I don't think Tarantino had much of an influence at all in the movie... Ong-Bak was better.

Lucky Number Slevin... I loved it. It was a little pretentious but I don't mind movies that are like that. Great dialogue. The direction reminded me of Pulp Fiction.

Just finished watching Serenity.
I only recently discovered the Firefly TV series, a friend lent me the DVDs and I watched them all over the past couple days. The movie was great, extremely well done. Tied up a lot of loose ends (though not all), and had some great explanations and backstory for some of the elements introduced in Firefly.

I know I'm late, but damn... Great series, better movie. I thought so, at least-- don't really know what the general fan reaction was/is.

Yes, there were some rather unexpected moments, to say the least. It's one of the few (perhaps only) movies/series of its kind where I actually cared about the characters. You really get attached to them during the series.

Yea crazy story behind that book which I haven't looked into, it's definitely worth a read, many people said that it was impossible to make a film based on the novel, how wrong they were.

Green Street Hooligans! Frodo is a bully. Claire Forlani is yummy. Football fanatics are fucked in the head. And I am a pathetic softy, I shed a tear at the end. What shame. It seems to me that every scene that was made especially for that, I can't not fall for it. I'm a perfect viewer. I think it's the music that gets me. And those bastard composers sure know their trade ... all that volume swelling and heartfelt strings ... goddamnit, what about my reputation

:D

Oh and my favourite quote:

"If he'd done that to me, I'd kick the seven shades of shit out of him." HAhahahahahaha

Must admit I'm also a sucker for well-done tear-jerking moments. Not really in keeping with my "image" either!

I saw Smokin Aces. I liked it, but it was a little dissapointing. I thought there'd be a ton more action.

Severance!

Watch it! What a great non-sense. Some sort of horror movie merged with Scary Movie but without the stupid jokes.

Arthur et les Minimoys (and the Invisible in English)

Nice CG stuff, but that's pretty much the only good point...
The kid is 10y.o. as a human, and when he becomes a minimoy he's in age of marrying (and we can assume, breeding) with the princess... sounds kinda weird Ôo (cuz' it doesn't sound like 2 innocent little kids saying they'll marry someday, but more like a 10y.o. boy who grew up 10 years more in just a few seconds and is now thinking of "some action" for tonight... I've read that the relative dialogues are censored/edited in the US... while the movie's pace is already quite weird, it must be totally fucked up when censored...)

And there are not much jokes for those older than 6y.o.
