wow, that interview is so damn cool. it's really weird how contrasting his voice is when he speaks normally to how his voice is on the songs.

Is that the one where Dev says 'like' like a hundred times?

Cool little FF interview with Byron on there too. ;) I don't think I've seen one with him before.

Yep. His brain moves too fast for his mouth, I think.

Speaking of the interview, though, I can't help but wonder why reviewers never just have a damn conversation! I mean, asking the questions is cool, but I hate interviewers that never ask follow-up questions. Devin gives an answer and this guy goes, "Yeah, roight, that's cool, [REPLACE next question]." I don't know, I just know if I was sitting there interviewing Devin I'd be asking questions, but just in a shoot-the-shit manner, not as an interviewer. I don't know, asking question after question just seems boring to me.

The same thought found its way into my brain when I was watching it, especially as the interviewer kept on commenting the answers with flattering words and then - tick - changed the subject. I know that it can be hard to come up with follow-up questions compared to the ones you have already planned and written on your cards, but it would give the interview a chance to develop and become maybe much more interesting by that. That can also help loosening the structures of an interview with its q&a-routine and give it the feel of a real talk, which sometimes manages to help some tight-lipped guys in becoming more comfortable with speaking (although this wasn't the case with Devin).

On the other hand you only have a limited space of time for an interview and you wanna make sure that none of the questions you consider to be important passes unanswered. Ah well... Just my two cents.

Live-style interviewing is very difficult technique to master and a great many people fail when attempting it, because they lack the 2 crucial skills...

a) Listening
b) The art of the follow up question

That's why I think Andrew Denton (Australian journalist/comedian/entertainer/producer) is the best interviewer I've seen:
