Aren't apes a subset of monkies?

In The Netherlands, monkies are called "apen" and apes are "mensapen" which means something like human monkies.

The other way round...monkey's are apes I believe...but apes are not necessarily monkeys, and monkeys are not great apes (Orangutan, Chimpanzee, Gorilla and Bonobo I think) none of these 4 are monkeys
