Blazingmonga wrote:Everyone can have one, so long as I can afford to send them. As I am producing the whole thing myself, the cost is very low. The main cost is postage, which for a single CD is not too much.

I was talking to Biert about this the other day actually. Ideally I would like to do all this for free. However, I am also open to trade for copies of this disc. It was that same attitude that kind of inspired me to do this in the first place. I have recieved many discs and things from people on this forum, and all for free. If I can do the same in return then that will be great! If anyone wants to send something to me in exchange though, I am also happy to do that.

Its all about passing the love around. Yeah baby.

Monga, have you checked the creative commons license thingy?
I think it´d be cool to take a look at that before releasing everything, and getting an agreement from everyone that colaborated!

I have looked at that, yes. It looks good but I dont think it is really necessary for this.

Or at least, everyone involved knows the score and knew I would be sending the disc out to interested parties, themselves included, through this forum.

Of course, if a song from this album gets stolen and becomes a No.1 hit, I would feel very stupid. However, I don't think this is a very likely situation.

Maybe I am just in a hurry to get this finished as I am so close just now. I have 100% sorted the disc print and back liner print for the case. Its looking pretty awesome!! I have the front and back cover also finished, I just need to sort out the booklet contents.

I will just sign up the soundclick page for this also, that can be a good initial information point in the least.

Weeeeeeeee!

Is it ok if I just include this address in the booklet? Do I need to understand the complicated bit above it? I am scared by the complexity of it, it blows my mind.

Nearly finished the artwork...this looks so sexual!

I got impatient...heh. Today I finished the final artwork and have already printed a few 100% finished copies. I included a link to the license that you speak of, so that is fine. There is also a link to the soundclick page.

If I have time I will start uploading songs there soon.

Do any of you want to see the artwork? I have taken some nice blurry crappy pictures.

How/when is this CD available? And do flake up the artwork.

I have started making the final packages today. This means printing, cutting and folding the completed artwork, printing the completed CD and burning the completed mix onto it.

As it is getting late I will leave uploading the MP3s till tomorrow or the day after (sorry folks!). I am knackered.

What I propose for the final product is this:

3 options...

1) The real deal. Hand made CDR + case + artwork posted from me to you.

2) The 128kbit MP3s will be downloadable from the soundclick page (you may have to register to do this, cant quite remember).

3) A high bitrate MP3 version of the album, uploaded as a zip file complete with printable artwork and everything. This can be uploaded onto a site like rapidshare upon request.

Yay.

I want the real deal, baby. Something tangible, with at least 44.1 KHz, 16 bit quality. I want to bring this thing on the road with me. So, whenever they're ready to be sent out, let me know so I can PM you my address. Oh, and let me just say:

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

Soundwise it won't make much of a difference, A-Daamage...
A.F.A.I.K. none of us sent Blazingmonga his/her song on a real disc.
(Correct me if I'm wrong, Dave).

The songs, no matter if you listen to them on disc or as mp3-files,
will sound exactly the same. That's cause they already were mp3s.
Having them converted to 44.1 kHZ 16 bit and burning them onto
a disc won't improve the sound. What's lost during the encoding is
gone and can't be brought back by re-converting the songs.
Converting them to this format only makes them accessable
to CD-drives.

I know how the process works, but I didn't know everyone sent there stuff encoded at the subpar mp3 level. I uploaded my track as a 44.1, 16 bit wav, which is what it was also recorded at. Despite this, I still want to hear the compilation.

You're wrong.

(heehee)

Ahem, some people did actually send me the 44.1khz, 16bit wav file or an audio CD of their track. Some people also sent very high bitrate MP3s of their song. The compilation itself (including my contributions) was mixed/mastered/fiddled with at the 32bit level.

So it will sound a bit better on CD, a bit less good on high bitrate MP3 and a bit even less good on the lower bitrate MP3s that soundclick can host.

Though you are right, there probably will be very little difference between them all.

if it was originally recorded analog, and in vynil, it´d be easy to spot the difference
but nowadays the best i can do is spot the diff between 320kbps and 128kbps :P
