I must agree ith the general flow, the Wii dows look like a really fun console. Thats whats been missing for a long time, and seems to be the ethos of nintendo. Just look at the Game Cube. That was an excellent unit.

Sony and Microsoft seem to be just updating thir consoles where as nintendo has generally done something innovative, gb series doesnt really count.

Im watching it closer than the others in the market.

The swing-around remote control controller thingy is going to suck. It won't work as well as they are saying.
It's going to be silly playing with that thing, swinging your arms around.
Third Party developers won't 'port' the big selling games to the Wii.

You realise that they're also releasing an add-on cradle for the Wii that turns the motion sensing controller into a "normal" one with extended buttons? Expect this to come with the console and to be revealed at E3.

The President of Nintendo confirmed this when they first unveiled the revmote.

So no, that claim is wrong, FIFA games will still come to the Wii every year.

It was an extension that connected a stick and two additional buttons to the remote control. That's not enough for most games, every other console has and uses 2 sticks and 8 buttons.

I agree that something new for the gaming industry is always welcome, I just don't think this is 'it'. Innovations have been there, just not as prominent as this one (think about analogue sticks and force-feedback on the contollers).
And better graphics can definately add something to a game. It's usefull to create an atmosphere that connects you to a game, and more detail can mean new gameplay possibilities.

Nintendo will ALWAYS be in the game if they stick with their line-up, Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, need I continue?? These games are always awesome!!

I always have and always be primarily a Nintendo fan.

Thing is, a lot of the classic games are moving over to Xbox and PS...

Final Fantasy, Megaman, Ninja Gaiden, etc...

Yes but the other systems don't get the Nintendo franchise games. As long as they're always exclusive to Nintendo then they'll always be up there.

Doesn't matter to me, anything Nintendo does I can emulate on my PC, Mac, or modded Xbox.

You can't do Nintendo DS or Wii though...

It will take very little time to crack WII for emulation, so I'm not worried about it, and DS is a joke so I don't care. Heck there's already a boot disc for the 360, consoles will always be hackable.

I don't think you'll be able to play a lot of games then. That controller is likely to become the main element of most of the games.

So I won't be able to play little girl games like, Mario Bros., Kirby, and Bubble Bobble 3D? Oh noooosss!!!

Seriously someone will figure out keyboard or controller mappings for that.

And remember, any time Nintendo has tried to bring on the next revolution on crap like that it has flopped. Rob the Robot, Power Glove, Virtual Boy. I think game boy is the only thing that survived for them.

Microsoft has recently raided nintendo's back catologue of games and so far have one called Viva Pinata in the making, looks shite, but it's standard nintendo stuff which I've never been a fan of.

You mean Microsoft hired Rare to make games? That isn't Nintendo catalogue.

Then just use axis based controllers.

Nintendo did also invent the thumb-based analogue stick, the d-pad, the rumble function and other things which are are staples of modern consoles.

Yes, Nintendo has invented some crap, but some things have really changed home console games.

They could be onto something with the gyroscopes thing. We'll have to wait and see. I'm neutral at the moment. I'll suspend opinion until I actually try one.

I'm all assholed out on this topic, I'm usually not so negative but this was fun, especially since I was hardcore Nintendo fan, I just couldn't stomach the prices of the N64 games, I went emulator and never went back to them.
