My dvd player is PAL, but i can read dvds on my pc, so there should be no problem
By the way , did you know that in France the format is SECAM?
fortunately all dvd players are now PAL

Les pattes du canard sont courtes , il est vrai , mais les allonger ne lui servirait à rien ( vieux proverbe chinois).
Yup, SÉCAM sucks! But not as much as NTSC
I agree above, that most of the world uses PAL, but 99% of TVs should support NTSC.
One thing to check though is that your hardware is unlocked to play region 1, or unlockable. Some players will let you change region three times, then lock. This is a pain if you are watching stuff from some obscure region, and it will make you regret importing that Russian porn
It pisses me off that here in Canada region free player are very elussive. I moved here from England a couple of years ago, and I am unable to watch any of my old DVDs. New computer time me thinks...

The $30 WalMart DVD is actually one of the best values around. It will play both NTSC and PAL. A number of live DVD's I download are actually PAL so I just went out and bought that DVD player. My $200 DVD player won't play them.![]()
You won't have any problems with your DVD player for either format. The only problem you will ever come across is region coding. There is most likely a crack to change the settings on your DVD player though. Most manufacturers are getting smart enough to just use region 0 all of the time anyways so their discs will play anywhere in the world.
But, the DVD is not coded for a specific Region, so it will play on any DVD player that can handle NTSC. And any DVD player sold in the US of A will play NTSC. If you live in the U.S., just buy the special edition, stick it in the player and enjoy. Easy.

I'm not sure it's the smell of the package I am looking forward to...but I am definitely looking forward to it!

It'd be even funnier if he was waiting for DEVIN'S "sweet smelling package" to arrive.

Tracy wrote:Dude, we didn't create different formats. There is no "normal" worldwide DVD. To master for both formats costs thousands of dollars. That is why if it isn't necessary anymore we'd really rather not do it. Europe uses PAL format, almost the rest of the world uses NTSC. If the European label thinks it was wise to release in their own territory in NTSC I'm sure it is fine.
Eh, not sure who wants that much money for an NTSC to PAL conversion, however I'm sure that you can get this done for a few thousand dollars less than that. Otherwise, european DVDplayers can play NTSC easily so it isnt a problem.

It'll be a while before they become affordable though. Lets hope they don't take off. I am sick of having HD this, HD that shoved down my throat.
Why would I need a super HD TV + DVD if all I am going to watch are films like Big Trouble in Little China

I would be all like, "wow, look at the vibrant colours in the green light coming out of Lo Pan's mouth!!!!"
Uh Oh, Thats too much money for something that sucks. Well what else would you expect from the almighty Microsoft?
