BrunoN wrote:Yup, riffage in the end part is excellent. Shred is pretty hard to judge, such things usually sound bad without context. BTW Dan, fix the lastfm link in your sig, should be http://www.lastfm.pl/music/The+Omega+Experiment

No. If it were my music, I'd probably do it a little differently, but it isn't mine. It's yours. Having had a (mostly instrumental) taste of the tunes, I'm fine with it going away until it's finished. It adds more mystery for the listener and lets the music make a complete statement rather than fragmented block-by-block contributions to the whole. Best wishes on the whole project. Obviously, let us know how it goes.![]()
Also, what you're experiencing now is the reason I've never really shared my music, I think. It's not refined enough, played well enough, recorded well enough, etc. for me to deal with the reactions to an unfinished product. I'm musically shy, you could say. And I need a drummer.
swervedriver wrote:I will not make the decision for you on how to go about releasing your songs to the world, but I'll give you my band's reasoning. Basically, for us recording is a very slow process since our daily lives are so busy and right now are recording process is separated into clear steps. Drums recording, drums editing, guitar recording (times 2) and bass recording, vocal recording (times 2/3/4), then editing/mixing/blablabla/etc. Right now the drums for several songs of our upcoming album are edited (all are recorded) for me to record guitar tracks over.
A while ago I finished recording my parts for one song and was kinda raving about how awesome I think it sounds, despite the lack of bass, vocals, or proper editing/mixing of any kind. I get carried away in my excitement of moving the recording process forward while knowing what work still remains to be done. And that's the thing: it's not yet finished, and people who don't know the song will form their opinion of the song based on such an early preview. This can lead to praise, but later on (as you're experiencing) also lead to disappointment because your envisioned final version does not line up with your early listeners' expectations.
This is why we keep previews to an absolute minimum until we're quite far in our recording process, because that way it will sound a lot like the finished product anyway. So if people like it then, they will keep liking it and if they don't.. well, they don't. Also, we don't want to have a ton of different versions of basically the same song floating around the internet. But anyway, that's how we feel, you're welcome to think otherwise. On some level I find it a little sad that we're doing a ton of work and not showing it to anyone, but then I hope the impact of the final result will be that much bigger.
Personally I find it very interesting to hear a complete song come together from drum parts, guitar parts, vocal parts, key parts, etc. so I've enjoyed the instrumental parts you put online, especially hearing Motion with and without vocals. But I can understand where you're coming from with your concerns, so taking the instrumentals offline would make sense. As for Morten... well, he could use some time off from Furor I think.![]()

Motion and other songs like Paramount, or Stimulus are loved from the first listening.
The material is very fresh and it has this cosmic energy I always wanted to have in this type of music.
Just wanted to say a Big Thanks and please keep the spirit up. It's gonna be hell of a record !
