I hate Jackie Chan.

Really?

I love Jackie, especially the early HK stuff. Much of his Hollywood career has been pretty stinky, granted. I may be biased though as he is a bit of an honorary Canberran. His parents lived and worked here for decades and remained here until they passed away and were buried here. Quite a few locals have met Jackie at their local shops etc. And for anyone who knows Canberra (and not just the dopey stereotypes), that's pretty weird.

So I'm rambling now.

Why no love for Jackie?

Note - I hate Keira Knightley. Ugly horse faced skeleton who can't act to save her life. In my opinion. Any time I hear someone saying she's attractive I'm genuinely astonished.

I hate Jackie Chan.

In second grade, I was so obsessed with Jackie Chan that all of my friends stopped talking to me, because I wouldn't shut up about him. I was trying to learn martial arts too, but it just ended up looking like really fast disco dancing.

Most of my memories are painfully embarrassing. I can no longer enjoy Jackie Chan movies, because they bring up some of those memories.

I don't hate Jackie Chan, though I do find his career isn't as interesting/watchable as it used to be.

I know. I think I'm one of only 2 or 3 people on the planet who hated it. Maybe I need to give it another watch, but 'twas no bueno first time around.

No. I hated it too. Completely. But I also hated the book. I hate Bret Easton Ellis.

The film was pants. Completely. The book is extremely unpleasant, but that is rather the point. All of his books are exposing the unpleasantness. All of the films of his books miss this. Have you seen Less than Zero? It's a great piece of 80's cinema, just like the Breakfast Club, whereas the book is really not veyr nice at all. Interestingly if you have read the last one, I forget what it is called, Ellis takes this as his theme.

I"ve seen Less than Zero many times. Great movie. AND I read the book, which sucked. I've stopped reading him, but I'll see any flick.

I saw the death of Christopher Hitchens crop up all over my newsfeed on Facebook, and as I don't quite read things properly first time round; I immediately took it in as "Christopher Biggins", and for about 10 seconds the rest of my evening was ruined.

Then afterwards I had to google "Christopher Hitchens".

I told a few people my mental cockup and while a couple laughed about it, a few really took to heart the fact that I have no fucking clue who Christopher Hitchens was. I'm sure he was very nice and very clever and very good at what he did....but you know, I kinda shut myself off from the real world when I was about six because I found it a too confusing and cruel place to live. Does this make me ignorant, stupid, ill-educated, uncaring, or what? Maybe all of the above?

Although to be honest, I know fuck all about current affairs; but I did a shit hot job on some traditional gilding today. It's a dying art.

Meh, I was quite unhappy about his death but when I mentioned it to my wife she said "Christoper who?"

Yeah, I get that he's an anti-theist n all now as my mother's a militant Atheist; but I'm not even theologically on the fence. Like, the time people spend thinking about God, or thinking about how God doesn't exist; I spend it more constructively doing things like watching Star Wars (which we know is all real as it was documented on film), or lacing up my trainers in ridiculous fashion. Fuck pondering over whether there's a God or not- WHICH WAY DO I LACE THIS NEW PAIR OF SNAZZY VANS?

I dunno. Just something about the Chan... Something about him makes me hate him. Maybe it has to with Rush Hour...

And Stu... That was the best story ever.

You know your evening is potentially fucked when you get to the train station just on time to hear the next one's delayed by 10 minutes. Ten minutes later it's a further 10 minutes. Six minutes later it's 13 minutes. Half an hour after you arrive you find the train you wanted was cancelled and they're just telling you now, and the one following is ten minutes late (but to it's credit, actually arrives ten minutes late).
Good thing I managed to get into the gig I was going to see as it was a limited capacity venue (and it filled up quick), but missed out on the free booze they were handing out. Oh well, had a good time anyway.
