More like: one-half good song, one-half 'insane brain pain'...

As for what I'm listening to: Beyond This Life, by Dream Theater. Couldn't find any good versions of the full song on Youtube, so for those of you who haven't heard, take my work for it that it's awesome. The little musical nod to Frank Zappa near the end is pretty cool too. For some reason, I'd never listened to Scenes from a Memory in full before despite having owned it for over a year, so I gave it a listen last week, and next thing you know... I'm hooked!

I'm waiting until the album release to listen, it's not that good?

(Not trying to speak for Dunkelheit!)

I've only heard a few tracks, so take my opinion with a grain of salt... BUT... Mikael's songwriting seems to have taken a hit again. And, some of the lyrics are... well, surprising, considering Heritage is an Opeth album (and that the man who wrote them is the same man who wrote the lyrics on Still Life, for example). This is entirely my opinion and I wouldn't be surprised if it changes when I hear the album in full, but I'm not so sure that they've produced another great album this time around. My issues are with mainly the quality of the music and it's composition; not the prog influences, the vintage production, or the fact that there's no growls.

30 sec samples of Heritage. Lovin it. The analog production, the prog influences and some of the tunes just grab me. The proggy Opeth is the Opeth I love more than the heavy side, so this is going to be a good record for me.

New Dream Theater. I dunno about this one. Too much chugging and wanking. Too much James Mustaine. Not enough prog.
