Ok, this came up in another thread, and having been involved with something like this before, I think it is a really, really great idea.
The purpose of having forum shirts is mainly to have a way of identifying members at shows and events. It is important to use original and easily identifiable designs on the front and back so it is easier to pick folks out in a crowd. It is also important to make sure no copyrights are infringed upon.
The best idea for this forum would be to have Devin himself come up with some original designs, and put them up for sale in the already-existing HevyDevy CafePress store: http://www.cafepress.com/hevydevyrecords/933470
They don't have to be anything spectacular or amazing, just some silly sketches with a little colour that would stand out in a crowd. Of course, web addresses for the hevydevy site and the forums would have to be there somewhere, too. If we have Dev set it up, then he can make a little bit of money off of it, too. I think we'd all prefer that. However, Devin is a busy guy. I'll try and get in contact with him and see what he thinks.
If it is something Devin doesn't really want to get involved in, someone here can come up with something similar on their own CafePress or CafePress-like store, or some other printing company. The stores like CafePress work great simply because they are free. However, I don't believe anyone but Dev should profit from something like this. So, if someone else decided to do it, then they should sell the shirts at cost, with no markup.
Another option is to just decide on one of the current designs in here http://www.cafepress.com/hevydevyrecords/933470 and use that. However, I think it would be much, much cooler to have a forum-only design.
Ideas? Thoughts?
Mods, if you think this thread is better suited elsewhere, then feel free to move it.
