The place to speak about Dev's current projects, and everything yet to come

Yes, I am getting this - I see my folly and am glad to see that The Dev attracts (in ways) similarly wired people.

Sorry I doubted, if I go and indulge in some self flagellation by way of Deconstruction... and once my brain is suitably juiced and I am left gagging for Ghost I may perhaps have made some inroads to making up for my faux pas?

^ We were eating rabbit stew at my sisters' house yesterday, and giving her cat the bones, noting that the bones looked like cat carcasses, and they swear that grey cat of theirs is half rabbit, ergo he is half cannibal.

Their dog is a thief and a bully, so the cat had to fight to eat his kin.

What's this thread meant to be about again?

I have never illegally downloaded an album in my life. I have in fact only ever once downloaded an album full stop. That probably has more to do with a.) being old and luddite and not of the download generation, and b.) almost every album worth owning was released on vinyl before 1990 and I already own it, rather than amajor ethical stance.
I confess I did used to tape trade back in the day though, but as Lars Ulrich will explain to you at great length, that isn't the same thing at all.
While we're on the subject I don't really get the whole thing of listening to music from a little device that looks like a cigarette lighter via white earphones. Makes you look like you're going jogging. Vinyl. Valve amplifier. Big fucking speakers. Music as it should be.

But I digress. Quite apart from the legal/moral implications of ripping off the artist/label (because bear in mind it isn't just the artists's decison - if they have signed to a label and taken that label's cash to finance making the album they are not really at liberty to grant you permission to download it free), I think it somehow spolis the enjoyment to download ahead of time. When Ki and Addicted came out I was really excited waiting or my copy to drop onto the doormat. When other people got their copies a few days before me did I die? was my listening pleasure diminished because i WAS NOT THE FIRST!!! Fuck no, if anything it made the anticipation and final payoff that much more satisfying. Actually having the artefact in hands while I listened to it for the first time gave me great pleasure and the more so for having deferred that gratification.
Aarghh. Bollocks. I had a really great analogy lined up there but have forgotten what it was now.

Oh well. I shall shuffle off on my zimmer frame now and go mutter at some cheese.

this whole 'downloading Devin Townsend Albums' discussion might be a bit pointless on the official Devin Townsend message board anyways because my assumption is that just about anyone on here will purchase his stuff one way or another. One of the many things that you can say about Hevy Devy fans is that we're a loyal bunch of sexy motherfuckers.

I must admit that I am WEAK...

I could not wait that long, so I downloaded Deconstruction straight away. But If there is any artist in this world that really deserves our support, it would be Devin himself! Therefore, he will get my money, eventually.

Been there, done that. It's a bit tiring after a while, plus people on the subway give you and your portable tube monoblock and Telefunken turntable dirty looks. Back to my cellphone, it's smaller and its shitty mp3 engine gives music vinyl-like pop artifacts so it's all ok.

I like cats.

He is the definition of brutal, though interestingly enough Strapping Young Lad scares him a bit though he doesn't mind Ki :)

Possibly, but you build up such monstrous shoulders and biceps carrying it all that they don't dare say anything. And not only are you a better person than BrodieBruce, you are also really macho looking and attractive to girls.
