According to Amos (Who actually drew it) it's a life-size representation of Misha's wang.

That's djent for ya.

Okay, I just don't feel like following the thread right now, too lazy/tired. What is the "djent" or "dj" thing? Please don't tell me it's another sort of "balls" reference that I won't be able to understand. Just humor me here and explain it, like, succinctly.

Sorry hun, but it wont be succinct. If it was, all I could say is 'Chuggachug, chug chug chuggachugcha etc'
www.got-djent.com
What is 'djent'?

Bulb (a.k.a. Misha Mansoor) says it best: "The onomatopoeia of a heavily palm muted distorted guitar chord which is usually played as but not limited to a 4 string double octave powerchord, and as a result sounds much more metallic and sonically present than a 'chug' 'chugga' or 'djun' per se, and which is basically how Periphery would describe its palm muted guitar sound."

The best way to learn is to listen, like this:

From http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=djent

Djent is used to describe a certain kind of guitar tone characterized by medium-high gain, a quick-release noise gate to emphasize staccato playing, a cut of most bass below 200Hz for a tight low end, a slight boost around 800hz for clarity, and a noticeable boost around 1.6Khz to emphasize pick attack. When a two-octave power chord is palm-muted with this tone, a "djent" sound is created rather than the typical chunkier sound.

Djent also refers to repeated staccato playing of the lowest-pitch string on a detuned 6 string or 7 string guitar with a powerful attack such that the string goes very slightly sharp upon the pick's release from the string. Lower-gauge strings are used to facilitate this.

Djent tone is many times created using a Line 6 amp modeling product such as the Pod series or the Axe-Fx. When possible, an amp model such as the Big Bottom or Modern High Gain on these devices is used in conjunction with a modeled Tube Screamer in front. Engl and Mesa amplifiers are typically used when tube amplification is preferred.

Djent is widely acknowledged to have come first from Meshuggah, but Misha 'Bulb' Mansoor has arguably popularized the sound. Djent's typical uses give rise to a "genre" of djent that is characterized by hi-fi compressed production, polyrhythmic/staccato distorted riffs and ambient clean passages which make liberal use of 9 and other "jazzy" chords. Electronica influences such as glitchy percussion and synthesizers are also incorporated.

The word is being abused and misused a lot on the forums lately, mainly because Devin said this:

I tried to simplify it into as few technical terms as possible for the sake of understanding, as she's tired and may not be a guitarist. :P

Djent is misused as it's not technically a genre, but a sound.

It's used in context of particular type of music so often we can safely assume it's a genre name. If a word "djent" is used everybody thinks about particular type of grooves, not EQ on guitar set in this or different way. I really don't understand why people avoid that so much, is inventing new genres of music despicable hipster thing or what?

It's very distinct and easy to recognize, by the way. Just check if there's steady, easy to follow cymbal (and often snare) rhythm plus complex, hard to follow kick drum (with guitar playing together with it). It's much more defining characteristic of this music than the type of chord or a guitar tone.

Pretty much that's the thing, yes. Or rtaher, inventing new genres of music is very cool (on the whole. There are notable exceptions). It is the defining of them and affixing labels to every subgenre that is considered a bit anal, elitist and divisive of whatever particular 'scene'.
'Twas ever thus. Look at the birth of Thrash for example and how quickly it descended into arguments about what was proper Thrash and what wasn't and how the pioneers of the sound sought to distance themselves from the term as quickly as possible. And how many subgenres sprang up. Same thing in techno, punk, electronica, jazz etc etc etc.
And then you and up with all the sub-sub-sub genres: Blackened Melodic Urban Gothenburg Post-Electronic Neo-Pagan Krunk Djentcore. And no-one has a fucking clue what it means any more.

Not always appropriate though. Cheese and tubigrip, for example, are not music. Ditto paving slabs, socks and vacuum pump penis enlargers.
