I was reading for about 4h about amps I thought my head will explode...

Dunno if I made the right decision or not but I made it.

I have bought "low budget" decent Crate FW 15 R amp

and Boss MT2 effect

I hope it will be not so bad.

Oh no =(

Can't say I agree with your decision but okay. I still say you'd be better off getting something like a POD and DFH and recording your own stuff ( isnt that roughly Devins set up on ZTO as well? ).

I don't have any speakers that is why I have decided on amp which has a nice clean + this distortion to add some metal power.

I am just learning to play my guitar, I can barely play 1st part of "truth" until hard chords like

---------------
-------6-----
-------4-----
-------4-----
-------5------
---------------

or

--------5------
--------x-----
--------4-----
--------4-----
--------5------
---------------

I have a quite problem with placing my fingers on such a small place :/
(If you could tell me which finger where should I place I'd be grateful)

Whatever I would do I wouldn't get even close to Dev's sound anyways... He is my idol, the one because of who I have decided on guitar but with my skills and low budget I really have to go my own path ;(

I use his music as my learning material I am so happy when I hear that some parts of my terrible sound I produce reminds me of the original Dev's song :)

Can you tell me more precisely what you don't like in this stuff? Have you used them?

I really read about 4h different forums reviews etc. and I couldn't decide e.g.

either the distortion was weak or sound to digital etc.

This amp has a 12" speaker which sound really decent (what I have read in reviews etc.)

I dont like it because it costs as much as a pod but a pod is far better imo. If you bought/acquired Drumkit from hell ( drum program devin used in ziltoid the omniscient ) and bought a pod and started recording yourself I think you would improve way faster. It's not like Devin has insanely expensive gear, he just knows how to utilize what he has, and more importantly write a good song.

If I will see that I dig playing guitar and I can really do it I will think about it later.

As for now most important things is just to learn songs and enjoy power >:D

Can you tell me which pod excatly are you talkng about?

btw have you seen this video?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gx3S9AdUMx0

I enjoy listening to it so much even without guitars ;p

This song rocks anyways xD

Eugh, I doubt you can get any Devin-type sounds out of the Metal Zone. I happen to have a similar (older model) Crate 15W thing and a BOSS Metal Core pedal, but I never use them as the sound is, honestly, terrible....

For a cheap, versatile practice amp, I've heard good things about the Peavey Vypyr series, but I guess it's too late now.

Ok for some reason I thought you had bought a Cube. I have no experience with that amp but I doubt you're going to get anything usable out of it. Basically the POD is perfect if you want a really heavy Meshuggah type sound, because that's basically what they use. Or technically they use the Vetta II, but it's basically the same technology. A pod costs like 300-400 bucks, so a bit more expensive then your 15W amp, but if you listen to some really good POD recordings, THIS!!, I'd say it's worth it. Joey Sturgis, who produced this is another guy who really knows how to use a pod (he has used it on all of the records he has produced)

And this

was recorded exclusively with POD pro, which is plain ol' POD 2.0 in rackmount case (it's so old it has MIDI connectors instead of USB one). Mind you, it's the older, worse model, existentialist is writing about spiffier XT one I think. This thing gives amazing results in skilled hands, I don't buy any shit about PODs sounding "digital" or similiar nonsense.

XT or X3. Or Pod Farm. I'm convinced that digital is better then analoge, at least for amps. I just think people need to stop trying to emulate tube amps and make new digital amps. Like Line6 did, and look where it got them. Every Meshuggah fan uses the POD now.

Well I can't find a bad word about Boss mt-2 effect so far

http://reviews.harmony-central.com/revi ... /MT-2/10/1
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/reviews/ ... index.html

but I have heard that it sounds totally different (bad/good) with every amp so we will see soon.

As for the Pod, it will be my next step when I will learn how to create something worth recording >:D

I do, sorry about not writing anything but all this porn ain't gonna watch itself.

I assume you know that Studio GX thingie is only an audio interface and all sound processing will be performed on your computer? Not that's anything wrong with that. Unless your computer's ooold.

Existentialist is giving you great advice, listen to him.

Line 6 is not only great for Meshuggah type sounds, but will sound way better than that Crate and the God awful Metalzone for ANYTHING else. Trust me. It is worth it...and I don't even have a Pod! But, I have played through them. I just prefer different gear.

I have however owned a Metalzone, and a Crate. It was great in the early 90's when all I cared about was death metal.

Maybe I should ask, what are your goals?

Well it looks like you guys saved me in last minute :)

Well my pc is decent so I shouldn't have any problems with that, besides xt and x3 were out of my price range atm. I think it will be good for the beginning as I am still damn noob

My goal? well my goal is to get as close as it possible to Dev's sound/skill/type of music and yes... when I will achieve all that I wanna be bold like him ^^,

EDIT

btw does it sound much better than guitar rig, revalver and others?

It sounds much better then Guitar Rig. I like a lot more then Revalver, but some people have made Revalver sound really good too. Both Revalver and Pod though, and even Guitar Rig is just far, far better then that 15W Crate amp.
