For those who are curious I am listening to the whole album on their myspace:

Scar Symmetry has the potential to be awesome. The poppier parts totally ruin it.

Wonderful music but my comments are that "Time Flies" reminds me of Pink Floyd's "Dogs" (or is it "Pigs") but those guitars and especially when the vocals are "and after a while" because the Pink Floyd track has those exact lyrics and I'm a huge fan of Pink Floyd and "Animals" in particular. I got into Pink Floyd a number of years ago now but for me that part "sticks out like dog's balls." I used to work as a cleaner and when I was being trained in that job my "mentor" would always use the phrase "sticks out like dog's balls" lol.
Another aside here, I was actually in town yesterday to buy my sister a birthday present and ended up buying a bundle of CDs but I ended up buying her "Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters" which is "Sense and Sensibility" but some smart arse has edited Sea Monsters into the original text. But the reason for buying this book (well I was actually looking for womens clothes but got self-conscious and so stopped doing that) but the main reason was because I'd bought her boyfriend "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" and truth be known he's a bit of a "knockabout" sort of guy (and that is a term of affection) and I found it amusing but I'm unsure whether he found it as amusing as I did. So in a feeble attempt to "redeem" myself for that failed gift-giving effort (I felt kind of stupid) I thought if I bought my sister the equivalently stupid book it would somewhat make the original gift and hence myself look less stupid. Imho I was mildly successful in doing this because we were out having dinner and so I took the opportunity to say that next year I will do "better" in terms of this. But the food was underwhelming tbh. I don't mean to nitpick but I ordered flathead and as a boy I used to catch flathead and there is nothing better than fresh flathead. What is so wonderful about flathead is that the flavour of the fish is just sublime and you really only need cook it in a bit of butter but this flathead was coated in a "pantheon" of herbs and spices and so I felt that the natural flavour of the fish was overwhelmed. The herb or spice is merely to augment and I just felt that the fish was "outshined" by the herbs and spices where in an ideal world the herbs and spices should be subordinate to the fish itself. But in sum it was a good meal and I enjoyed it and I enjoyed the company. O gosh I've really gone off on a tangent here. Next time I'll tell you about the time I got stranded in an elevator.
