Do it dude! Pick one up and start playing - just don't start slapping, please :| ew like Trujillo
And don't play a 6 string bass - that's too many strings :|

Bryan Beller (aka Murderface) is incredible though - based on this video alone, one might think he's like a thrash guy, or exclusively metal - but the guy's a Berkelee alumnus, he's a hell of a bass player, can do anything... except pick maybe.

Slapping can most definitely give a song texture. Les Claypool is a testament to that. And 6 string bass isnt bad. My friend is supposed to be getting a 7 string with a low F# added on to it! (sub contra baby 8) )

No problem with slapping bass - Like Alcucard, it gives it extra tone. How ever, it sounds stupid when the guitarist is chugging out something huge and you have "Bow-wakka-bow-bow-PAMP" in the background. Play it where it fits, as it were. You wouldn't want super heavy metal to have a dude rapping over the top, would you? (No one say yes, it is a silly idea.)

I have a job interbiew in... 9 and a half hours, and I am tired. As soon as I crawl into bed, I'mma wake up, I know it.

SAINSBURYS

They're sold in bags in the cooking aisle now, not pots.

You are right that the slap technique is a valid one, and appropriate from time to time - but IMO it's so prevalent, that often, that style is all that's expected in a bass player. That's a bit of a generalization, but slap/pop's popularity has nudged out other techniques that are often better suited. I'm just tired of the slap

With that being said, you ever heard the King Crimson song, Sleepless? That is a KILLER slapped/popped bass line. It's great, it fits the song, and it sounds rally fresh. This stuff is all my opinion, so ... no one take offense or anything.

Hmmm....as I remember, my little sister was making cornbread muffins or some derivative of as such, and I suggested that she inject some hot sauce into them.
Took a syringe (the orthodontic kind,) and injected. Tasted GREAT.

Chilli brownies are actually the bomb 8) if I had any choc I'd make some. Just make them as usual but put 1/2 tsp of chilli powder in.

Cheesecake I make is usually crushed digestive biscuits (Graham Crackers?), put it in a pan with a tiny bit of sugar and some butter, then pour it into a removable base tin, gently squish it all even and flat, whack it in the fridge. Then mix some icing sugar with some ricotta (or you can use a mix of cream cheese and marscapone) until it's sweet enough for your taste, maybe put a squeeze of lemon juice in, then pour that onto the base, stick it in the fridge. Make/buy some kind of coulis/sauce, put it on top, stick it in the fridge. Just before serving, take it out and put the tin on something like a short glass or a jam jar, and sloooowly wiggle the side bit free so it's only on the base of the tin. Then put that on a plate and serve, eat, stroke, have sex with, do whatever you like with it.

It's probably not the proper way but it's very much a nice way.

huh, i feel like a bit of qn idiot not knowing how to bake these muffins and cheese cakes. Everyone seems to be so good. Maybe tomorrow i'll give it a shot.

I can definitely prepare roasts, cassaroles, etc. But not bake well except for pizza dough.
