after purchasing most of their discography ive grown to dislike them. mostly because their songs all sound the same and have the same structure.

Really? Is that sarcasm?... lol

I think they're older stuff isn't particularly thrilling, and with the coooonstant riffs in triplets/triple meter...

But Deliverance/Damnation onwards I think none of it sounds the same. And structure-wise, I tend to see them as never HAVING a structure... Mostly just long songs with new riff after new riff, with the odd repeat of a previous one from 3 minutes ago or something. You could see that as them all having the same structure I suppose...

=D You're all going to like this, I did Almost Again. Should I post this somewhere so Dev sees it? Yes, No?!

Cool Alucard - sounds nice
Your beard thing always looks auburn in your videos :D Is it just lighting or is it actually kind of an auburn color?
Weird question, but I have to know :}

Kind of both. It's a very light brownish, almost red color. Which is odd because my hair is a really dark brown haha.

And yea, this time around I tried turning the music down some more than usual. You can actually hear my guitar now.

Ah, you play it down at the two? I found that harder.

I hate barring arpeggios. I'm used to sweeping arpeggios so that shape is pretty natural to me.

Aaah, I can do either or, so I go for the barred ones because it's a fret or so closer and less string moving. (That, and I'm not the greatest at guitar. xD)

Ah, indeed. Nice rendition. Do you record your sound from a mic in the room or is your guitar plugged into your computer? Also, are you a little out of sync in the last verse / chorus? ;)

I just turn my camera on and hit record lol. I'm playing through my amp. I tried to do it differently recently, but windows movie maker is so slow for me for some reason.

And yea, I probably am out on the last chorus, I think either the tempo changed slightly or it just came out of no where. I hadn't practiced this song in a long time so it was only after like 20 minutes of practice that I recorded this.

Thanks guys. You think I should post this and make Dev aware of it so he could comment, or no?

I've never tried this, but do you think it's possible to put the song you're covering in a session in whatever program you'd normally use to record your guitar with, and record your playing in that session too..*takes breath*.. while at the same recording only video with your cam? That would probably give you much better control over your sound (and the balance between song - your playing), as well as a nicer guitar sound overall. Please don't take this as negative or anything, I'm just putting out some ideas how to make the end result sound better. :)

As for trying to show it to Dev, I think that's mostly up to you.. depends on what your goal is by showing it. If it's just for "hey look I'm having fun playing your stuff" then sure; if it's an open sollicitation for a guest appearance then you may want to consider doing a more perfect take and/or a different song (for example, 'Decimator' may have some more challenging riffage, thus look even more impressive). ;)

That would work, but it would require having a seperate microphone or input for your guitar. I can't think of any webcams that let's you split the input. For instance, I can't just record a song while on webcam to some body.

I've thought about that. Or just playing along to the song in a DAW, taking a video and removing the sound then inputting the recorded sound with the original track on top, just lower. I might try that...but like I said the program I use to edit is so slow that it's incredibly hard to edit with it :(

I was thinking of doing Decimator as is has some really really fun parts in it. But I'm probably going to do Anti-Product and Gaia either today or tomorrow. Neither one has a video on youtube and I love playing both songs.

Do you want video editing software, or sound software? Cause there are a couple of decent ones for just sound - Audacity if you want it really bare bones, or Reaver I have also heard is good.
