Talk about other artists here (even though they all rip off Meshuggah)

Devy, spelled Devy! wrote:No I don't doubt that you love them, I'm actually glad there are other OSI fans round here. I think the CD's are consistent, you don't.. it's all good. Do you know how many Chroma Key CD's there were? I only have Dead Air for Radios, and that CD rules. I totally agree that ShutDOWN is brilliant, and not just cuz of Steven Wilson. Kevin Moore lays it down heavy.

I get a feeling that Blood sounds a little fuller than the other two, I mean, not by leaps and bounds; but all the songs on Blood are ... ripped, beefy. There are so many layers and layers which all work really well together IMO. And I like all the featured artists quite a bit. So anyways... Blood gets my two thumbs up. I wish OSI would do live stuff, but it doesn't look like that happening, it seems Kevin Moore likes his privacy

All the Chroma Key stuff is here, with a free listen: http://www.chromakey.com/

It's incredible.

Chroma Key itself has three albums, Dead Air, You Go Now, and Graveyard Mountain Home. Also by Kevin Moore is the score to an (Turkish I believe) horror movie, which takes a completely different, but still incredible tone, and Memory Hole, which is something he did for a Radio For Peace program where he made a bunch of beats and then utilized a whole bunch of different samples (from all sorts of things) about the state of prejudice in the world to effectively induce a variety of emotions, ranging from horror to hope, ect. You can get the free version of Memory Hole.

Also if you are interested, Kevin Moore played Keyboards for an album with Ken Andrews (of Failure)'s band ON. He's going to be producing the debut album of the industrial band Makine: www.myspace.com/makine , and as for OSI live, Fates Warning sometimes plays OSI songs live, and Kevin Moore was supposed to start doing live shows sometime soon, but I guess not.

Oh, and I guess he was in some progressive metal band or something... :D

My copy of Graveyard Mountain Home came with a DVD with some 50's educational movie set to the music from the record. Mighty weird impression, but I wish more artists would do such things.

The movie was what he based the record off of, set at half speed. It's pretty freaky.

Oh wow, I've got to get in on those CDs. Kevin Moore makes cool stuff when he's a hermit in Costa Rica  I checked out Makine and ON, that's really cool stuff; I cant honestly say I've never heard Turkish industrial before though. I can see why Kevin Moore would want to get involved with both groups.

Hm.. well if Moore ever gets around to here, I'd be there. I have a feeling that won't happen though :(

Whoa, really? Well no's sayin the Moore isn't a weird dude!

just got back from the Legacy fest which was partly superduper awesome as a really superduper awesome thing and partly supersuper shitty as a bunch of shit on another bunch of shit swimming in a pool of diarrhea.

Let's get to my negative points first...food. I mean, 2.50 Euros for a mini baguette that wasn't even worth 50 cents and tasted like the sole of your shoe after you stepped into a bunch of bullshit? Not just no but HELL NO! And that's just one example...atrocious. And when I say 'atrocious' I'm actually still being polite.
On to my next point. The origanization of this festival. You see, there was a little storm, nothing too major but apparently the stage was built so "fantastically well" that it just sorta fell apart. Yeah, I'm not kidding either. You see, there were tons of tiny tents where people were selling their stuff and you could have blown away each of them just by sneezing but the storm didn't do any damage to those. But the friggin' stage couldn't take the wind...just fucking A+! So basically several bands (including the almighty Behemoth) were forced to play inside the Stardust Hall on a much smaller stage...

...well, but actually that leads me to my first positive point. As much as it sucked that Behemoth weren't able to play on the big stage outside, this whole incident allowed me to see Textures too as their gig was delayed. They were originally supposed to play at the same time....so...

THANK YOU WEATHERGODS for allowing me to see both Behemoth and Textures...but at the same time go fuck yourselves, I caught a gold because of you fuckers.

Wellllllllll, the bands that I wanted to see were actually VERY awesome. No disappointments! The bands that I didn't care for actually sucked shit...they sucked a lot of it. But let's not even mention those.

I did see:

Keep Of Kelessin
They were pretty good actually! I enjoyed their gig much more than their gig at the Summer Breeze festival last year. They didn't blow me away as much as they do on CD but it was still a good gig.

Kataklysm
actually enjoyed this one a lot too. It was nothing mindblowing but it was a solid and pretty good gig and the sound was pretty good too.

Satyricon
damn, I LOVED this gig. There were no fuck ups, the show was cool, the sound was pretty good, I have no reason to complain. And I just really loved Satyr's arrogant performance. So yeah, this was one of those shows that you won't forget too soon.

Behemoth
man, they were fucking killer as always. This has been my 5th time seeing them and it was just incredible once again. Name me one Death Metal band that performs better, does a better show and plays so fucking tight and precisely at the same time...exactly, there is none. Mindblowing as always. Thank you, you crazy Polish fuckers.

Disbelief
yeah, you probably never heard of them but I'll mention them anyways because I can. And they were really good too. Their music is kind of like....Death Metal with Isis grooves, if that makes any sense. They're German and probably not known too well outside of Germany but they are really good, especially live.

Textures
awesome, awesome, and more awesome. Saw them for the 2nd time now and just loved their show again. And bought 2 T-shirts too! Alas there were not too many people watching their gig due to the schedule changes and them playing pretty late, I guess 90% of those 50 - 100 people were drunk and didn't know what was going on on stage and just banged their heads for the sake of it, but for the remaining 10% this was one of the best shows of this festival.

Biohazard
dang, does anyone remember this band? This gig took me back many years. It was so fucking awesome! Seriously! Biohazard still is the best Hardcore band EVAAAAR and I think they actually only played songs from their debut Album, Urban Discipline and State of the World Address. Now how fucking cool is that? Exactly, waaaaay cool. I just LOVED this show. And boy, the sound was fucking killer too!

so yeah, that was the Legacy Fest...next up...Wacken.

Last year's Cynic show in Warsaw was supported by cool band named Tenebris. I shot some clips of them with my digicam and posted it on youtube together with some warm words - dude from the band apparently noticed it and informed me about the next gig in Warsaw through the yt's private message. It would be shame to refuse so I packed my ass into the bus and went to the gig. It was kind of little prog-event with three equally unknown bands. First band was Disperse, prog-art-fusion-whatever metal made by very young dudes (guitarist is 16 or something), there was some instrumental KC-ish band called Lemur and Tenebris mentioned above. It depressed me, to be honest - audience was formed mainly by venue's staff and musicians and their friends (I think I've seen drummer dude from Riverside). It's pretty shit that biggest prog-club in the capital city makes prog-promoting event and nobody gives a shit. Maybe that gibberish about music dying has some sense in it - people want to see only the music they already know.

Anyway, Disperse's dudes are enormously talented (hope they have strong will and won't get discouraged too soon), sounded really epic and mature in places - there were some bit cheesy DT's influences, but still good stuff. Lemur was proper discordant and noisy and Tenebris good as expected (though didn't see all of it, gig had a delay and I had to fuck off early).

Here's crap clip of Tenebris from Cynic's show to make this post moar multimedia.

Seriously, being ambitious musician here must be depressing as fuck - Tenebris exists from 1991 and nobody knows them. I managed to order their record (only available at the moment I think) and had to wait, like, two months to get it. I'm starting to be glad I'm not talented.

Saw Gojira last night. I FUCKING SAW GOJIRA LAST NIGHT. It was at small venue that could fit 600, but there were only like 100 people there. Anyhoo, they raped, literally and figuratively. I was right next to the speaker so the whole time I heard nothing but Joe's vocals and the guitars, and a little bit of the drums. Anyhoo, here's the setlist, as much as I can remember:

Oroborus
THE HEAVIEST MOTHERFUCKING MATTER OF THE UNIFUCKINGVERSE
Backbone
From The Sky
Love
A Sight To Behold
The Art of Dying
Drum Solo
Clone
FUCKING FLYING WHALES
Toxic Garbage Island
The Way of All Flesh
-encore-
Vacuity

I heard that they got cut short though, which is a bummer. It was awesome during the encore, me and a bunch of people were shouting "OCEAN PLANET!!" and they actually started playing it, and then we were shouting "WOLF DOWN THE EARTH!!" and Joe played the intro. They didn't play Remembrance though :( I GOT TO FUCKING MEET THE BAND AFTER THE SHOW THEY ARE ALL FUCKING AMAZING!! I looked every single one of them in the eye, shook their hand and said "You're amazing." and they all thanked me. My penis grew 10 inches. Lastly, here are some pics:

THIS GUY IS FUCKING AWESOME

FUCK YEAH THE BEATLES

My sister got the back of her shirt that was HANDMADE BY THE BAND signed:

I now have my new most prized possession.

Words cant describe how awesome the atmosphere was!
Sunn playing in an old church, no lights & the entire building filled with fog from the smoke machine
They played the full grimrobe demo's album, at their trademark insane volume..every part of the building, including you vibrates to their drones!
