I'm not at all questioning their musicianship, no doubt their skills are a lot better than what I could ever hope to achieve. I just have a really hard time connecting with songs that seems to jump all over the place with various riffs. I wanted to try and convey why I'm not digging the song as much, but since I have no background in music theory, not a native English speaker and generally not very eloquent in expressing myself I tend to say things (not just about music) which can usually be rephrased much better. At first I had written "Impressed with the technical skills, but not digging the music", but thought that was much harsher so I tried to explain what I don't like about the music. Right now I'm thinking I should've left it as it was, or better just not have cared to reply at all. I didn't mean to offend you or anything, sorry that I did.

I understand where you're coming from, I cant get into Dream Theater's music for the life of me, and they typically have much more traditional song structures.

I dont know man, the tried and true "verse chorus verse" song structure is just tired to me. Repetition is very important in music, but over using something can be much worse. Dont think I dont like bands that use traditional song structures, because I LOVE a lot of bands that do; but when a band comes along that shows great musicianship, catchy riffs(to me at least) and interesting song structure it usually sucks me in. Meshuggah is a good example of this kind of thing.
